Average food & service, but at much too high prices (esp drinks).
Great Atmosphere and wonderful food!. This place has an amazing amount of beer and liquor to choose from and the food was great too. We went late Saturday for dinner and to play some pool, expecting the usual (not so great) sports bar & grill quality but the food here was wonderful and restaurant quality. The meal menu is simple and reasonably priced, service was quick, efficient, attentive and friendly. The drinks were great and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming while being large enough not to feel crowded or too empty when it got busy. We got the buffalo chicken dip appetizer, and I have to say it was DELICIOUS! Definitely making this a weekly go to spot!
My husband and I ate here for lunch. We started with the Dog Bites. The first batch came out still cold in the middle, but we told the waiter who quickly, professionally had the problem corrected and informed the manager. The manager came by to check on the second batch. The Dog Bites turned out to be DELICIOUS! Well worth the short wait for the second round. I ordered the BYOB with crispy onions (fried onion straws), provolone cheese, and bacon. I forgot to order mayo, which our waiter quickly brought out when I realized my error. My husband ordered the Drunken Chicken Tenders. He said they were good, but the beer batter makes for pretty thick breading, so if that’s not for you, you may choose something else. Overall, we were very very pleased! Our service was great and the food was delicious!
Not good. Food was too greasy for me and priced way too high.
I hate this place. Over priced for the quality. The service sucks too. The whole place is just about show. They cant back it up. I went back many times to see if it inproved. Nope. I gave up last year
My wife and I have eaten in pubs in London as well as the English countryside. Fox and Hound is not a British pub. While its ambience attempts pub-ness, its service model is strictly restaurant, with food ordered at and delivered to your table. On the other hand, my wife and I have dined in sports bars from Marquette, MI, to Miami, FL. Fox and Hound is one of the classiest we have encountered. While the dark wood surrounding the dining areas and pool room as well as the granite countertops and faux-onyx commodes in the rest rooms (in the UK they’d be labeled toilets) shout PUB, the 25 large-screen HD TVs and the warehouse ceilings peeking out around the suspended architectural features scream SPORTS BAR, as does the menu. We started with spinach artichoke dip, a generous portion served bubbling hot with multicolor tortilla chips, which seemed freshly fried. While not exactly bland, the dip lacked assertive flavor. We could see and taste the spinach, but could not detect any artichoke at all. My wife had Jamaican chicken, a portion so large that we took half of it home and split it for dinner! Unfortunately, only the black bean side had any kick. However, the chicken, rice pilaf, and broccoli were each cooked to perfect degrees of doneness. I had fish and chips, and in terms of texture the three large pieces of flounder surpassed any that I ate in Britain. But crunch alone does not equal taste; despite the restaurant’s claim of using ale in the batter, I could taste nothing. My fries, however, were above average and so plentiful that I had to leave half of them. The bill came to just a few pennies over $40, including a draft beer and a glass of house wine but not gratuity. Not too dear, not too cheap, right about in middle of sports bars with this level of service (attentive), decor (nice but not opulent), and food (not exactly bland, definitely not adventurous or assertive, just touristy inoffensive). So, even though we have discovered an above average sports bar in Fox and Hound, we probably won’t return because we crave food that sings in your mouth.
Skip it. WAY overpriced, which I’m willing to set aside, it is in Mayfaire right next to the movie theater, their rent has to be astronomical. What I’m not willing to forgive is the AWFUL service, and bad food. The only good thing about this place is it’s open late, but if you’re looking for a place to hang out after a movie, head to Grand Union or Slice of Life across the street.
