All in all this place is not too bad, although a bit pricy. The service is pretty good and the food was good enough for a return trip.…

Good Food. Just a quick note. Waiter was good BUT...you can always do better. No fault of your own for being lazy but if you had simply found a drink …

Horrible. The hibachi is horrible, sushi is not fresh…..i dont want to eat that. My mom said why you want eat here.we wait for two hours for the food and is not good. I will not come back.
The only thing that didnt suck about this place was our extremely apologetic waitress and the decorations.
This place rocks! I don’t know why people said this place was horrible, but I loved it. The food was really good, the service was great and we had a great time. The chef’s did a good job entertaining and the waitress was very nice. People seemed to be having a great time and the prices were reasonable in my opinion. Ignore those bad reviews, sounds like they had no real basis for their complaints. I also witnessed a birthday party that same night and they did a great job wishing that person a happy birthday.
Always Great. I’ve been eating here for several years. Not really frequently due to the 1 hour drive to get there. Yet everytime I eat here I am completely satisfied. The food is always good, which is what counts. Once the novelty of the chefs cooking in front of you wears off the food still holds its own. My wife and I have ate at quite a few hibachi style restaurants and this one is by far the best of all of them. Our most recent visit was this past Saturday, July 9th, 2011. We got there just at opening and there were enough people waiting for two tables. Everything was great as always.
McJapanese Steakhouse. Love that name, it suits this place perfectly. If you’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all. Very expensive, not private at all, and I have NO CLUE how this place landed on Wilmington’s top 5 Fine Dining Restaurants. Fine dining is not sitting at a table with eight random people while a chef tries to get you to catch a shrimp in your mouth. I liked this place the first time I went, but I never find myself craving Hiro, craving the same tricks, paying $20 for a plate of sauteed chicken and bottled white sauce. Thanks, but I think I’ll skip the whole Hibachi thing.I haven’t ever tried their sushi, but I can imagine it wouldn’t be much to remember anyway.
VERY disappointing sushi. We got take out sushi a week ago and it was HORRIBLE!!! We eat sushi once or twice a week at other Wilmington sushi restaurants and happened to be by HIRO, so we went in. There was very little fish in the rolls and they were very fatty … heavily fried and covered in mayonaise. Sadly, out of three rolls, we ate about 3 pieces each and threw the rest away. $60 down the drain.
