My fianc and I were skeptical, but pleasantly surprised. It looks like your average greasy spoon from the outside but the inside was clean. Service was good once we got it, took a few mins for our server to get to us. Clear soup and hot and sour soup were really good. Dragon crisps were good as well. Spring rolls were average but a decent addition to the meal. My fianc ordered filet mignon hibachi, steak was tender and seasoned well. I ordered General Tso’s chicken. Surprisingly good, not greasy and just enough spice. We also ordered some sushi and it was not the best but it was definitely not bad. Will return to try other items.

Our favorite hidden gem of Wilmington. Susan, Johnny and their amazing crew have never disappointed. Their food is incredible, their servers are knowledgable and helpful, and their prices are unbeatable for the quality. We go here at least 2-3 times a week for lunch and dinner and have to stop ourselves from going more. I have Celiac disease so Asian food has been tricky for me since my diagnosis. When we found Kyoto, I was finally able to eat all the food I’ve missed, knowing that they have a full understanding of my dietary needs and I’ve always felt great after eating there. It’s also amazing how hard Susan and Johnny work to make this place great. It is nice to be able to support local business and watch it grow and gain success. We bring all our family and friends to Kyoto and guarantee that you will love your experience!

Food is good but service is lacking. We’ve often had to wait a considerable amount of time to get our food and don’t go there often for that reason. But the food is good and very reasonably priced!

Ups and Downs. I met my friend for lunch after hearing wonderful things about Kyoto. We started with spring rolls, I’m not a fan of the sauce (tastes like it came from a jar) but the spring roll is decent. Not great but ok. The egg drop soup looked delicious but there was a film of oil floating on the top and the smell turned my stomach. My friend and I agreed it tasted like burned old oil. We swapped them out for a miso soup and clear soup. Again, a bit oily for my taste but better than the original soup (though the tofu was cold in the miso soup). The Masaman Curry was the standout for me. The flavor was wonderful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The rice was slightly undercooked, it was soft but with a touch of crunch/chew in the middle–not fluffy like the steamed rice I’m accustomed to at other Asian eateries. The Pad Thai was underwhelming (but far from the worst I’ve had in town). Overall it’s a great bang for your buck and I would absolutely order the Masaman again and might even try a rice bowl next time.
