It’s ok, nothing special. I had high hopes of a real NY deli but the most NY thing about this place is the price. There are better NY Italian restaurants with deli items on the menu.
True Authentic New York Delicatessen. My family and I recently visited Long Island Eatery after numerous, fantastic recommendations from friends and family. Entering the Long Island Eatery you know you’ve stumbled upon a deli unlike any other in this town. The first thing you notice is beautifully decorated salad case with at least a dozen fresh salads typical of a real deli. The second sign your in a real deli is the cooler packed full of premium Boars Head brand meats and cheeses all of which are available by the pound, on a bread, roll, hero, or wrap. Further down the counter you have five different fresh hot foods to choose from such as’ chicken and meatball parm, sausage and peppers, and a variety of other delicious meat and chicken dishes’ all of which are made fresh and also available on a roll, hero or served over pasts or rice! Most people consider breakfast the most important part of the day, and the folks at L.I.E must feel the same way because they serve breakfast ALL DAY AND NIGHT!! If you want a fresh, fast breakfast for a great price then this is the place you want t o go. From egg sandwiches, to waffles and pancakes, french toast and of course the good old buttered roll are all available to open to close. To top it all off the staff and service is impeccable!!!! A real family restaurant that brings a new standard of service with a smile. While ordering your food you actually get a sense that the guy or girl behind the counter actually enjoys being there and serving you with great food. The amount of laughter and chatter going on in the dinning room and behind the counter would give anybody a great dinning experience at this restaurant.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and a good time at a great price!
Anything with Bacon!. The Jimbo is one of the best sandwiches anywhere. The crispy hot bacon is essential. The daily specials give you a hefty sandwich for $5. And apparently health laws prevent me from climbing into the glass case with a spoon and eating all the macaroni salad. stupid health laws.Unfortunately some reviews lead me to believe some people don’t know how a real deli works. Someone behind the counter will ask what you’d like. Tell them. They’ll fix you up, and then you pay at the register. It’s quick and it’s easy and it’s delicious. (Try the Jimbo!)
We’ve been here on a couple previous occasions and thought we would try it again for a quick dinner. We arrived to see a sign on the door stating their new hours which we’re until 8 in the evening. We also saw a sign that said they had to close early tonight (7:00) which we thought was fine since it was 6:30 when we went in. We can usually eat in 20 minutes with no problem. At the counter, we asked the server what was hot and she pointed to about 4 selections in the front of the case. After ordering meatball parmensesn on a roll and getting a couple drinks from the cooler, the person behind the counter proceeded to get the food out of the back, place it in the microwave for at least 5 minutes and wrap it in paper. After asking us if we wanted a bag for the food ( no option of eating in evidently) we ordered a couple pieces of carrot cake. you could tell all the help just wanted us out the door so they could get out of there. No apologies for anything…… We got the food home and the girl had putten the cake in with the hot sandwiches. Not a good combo. All this and unfriendly service cost us a grand total of $22.00. Personally, when you think you can go to the steak house and have pretty much anything you want for two people and pay $26.00, this place seems to be over priced. I don’t believe we will be going back.
Really great QUALITY food!. I’m a Wilmington native, and I’m still getting used to all things New York, lol! What I’ve learned is that folks from N.Y. are pretty cool, and (at least here,) they make a MEAN sandwich!! My husband and I have tried their 5 dollar lunch specials (Roast Beef and BLT,) and couldn’t be happier. The quality of food is what is important here. The portions are very good. I think what some folks fail to understand is that you don’t get something for NOTHING. If you want to eat as cheaply as possible and STUFF yourself in the process, this is probably not the place for you. But, if you want fresh, high quality food at VERY reasonable prices, and you enjoy friendly service, this IS just the place.Hats off to everyone at LIE, and thanks for turning Wilmington on to some wicked awesome sandwich making (and DELICIOUS potato salad!!)
Fabulous !. They catered my daughters sweet 16 party and were great from the beginning, helping me place my order, what food, for how many etc they really helped make it so easy and then they delivered and the food was fabulous, everyone enjoyed it so a big thank you to everyone at Long Island Eatery ! Delicious but expensive. I love this place. The tuna is great and the meatballs are to die for. However I got 5 meatballs to go-figured I would make spaghetti at home. I bought 5 meatballs and paid $12.00.!!! That’s $2.40 per meatball. I could have bought 2 pounds of hamburg for less. However they were great and I figured It was a treat. Will go back-but not to buy meatballs…..
