Best in Wilmington. Nicola’s serves the best Italian food in Wilmington. I can tell that the pasta and bread are prepared daily – homemade. The dishes are seasoned perfectly and never so salty you need a pitcher of water to dilute the meal. They have a wonderful menu to choose from – fish, chicken, veal, steak, in addition to the standard Italian dishes. Many of the Italian dishes are the chef’s creations. They serve a whole baked garlic pod with balsamic vinegar and olive oil with wonderful fresh baked Italian bread while you peruse the menu. The place is very clean, which is important if you are serving food. The owners and staff are very friendly and gracious. They also have a very nice selection of wines which are as reasonably priced as the meals. You can also order a half dish for most of the pasta entres’. There are always consistent in their food and service which makes it truly a dining pleasure.

I’ve been there twice now and each time the service has gotten worse. The food is pretty good but the servers are horrible and not very attentive to the customer’s needs. Last time I was served burnt garlic knots and it took about 15 minutes to get a refill of diet coke…of course I had to ask another waitress to get it because our server didn’t come back to check on us! This is a small restaurant so there is no excuse for the lack of good service.

What they lack in atmosphere they make up for in food quality. Plan to take half of your meal home…and skip the apps the bread and roasted garlic they provide is more than enough.

Our Favorite Italian Restaurant. Owners Nick and Crissy make sure that you are satisfied. Excellent food using only fresh ingredients, home-made pastas and sauces. Prices are reasonable, especially the pasta dishes, and the portions are very generous.. Vodka Penne is to die for! Other favorites are the Pear and Goat Cheese Salad and Caliamari appetizers, Fresh Seafood and other specials. The menu changs bi-weekly, but you can always order your favorites and Chef Nick will prpare them for you. Nice wine selectiion, but a bit pricy. We have found the service excellent, relaxed but attentive, but not rushed. All you need to do is ask for faster service-for example if you are attending the theater. Atmosphere is busy and a bit noisey at times. We have recommened Nicola’s to many friends and they agree that it is excellent!

DELICIOUS!!! Staff was busy yet attentive in this busy restaurant. Food was served in a timely manner, nice and hot and favorable!!! And if you want something different and totally yummy, try the Butternut Ravoli with Sage Cream Sauce. My mouth was in heaven!

We BOTH loved it!. Since I have gluten intolerance and a dairy allergy, it is very hard for my husband and me to eat out together. But Nicola’s was the perfect ticket for both of us! The food was outstanding with many mouthwatering choices, including an extensive choice list for someone with food sensitivities like me. The location was easy -only ten minutes from Wrightsville Beach where we are staying. The atmosphere was contemporary, warm and colorful. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful and accommodating to our needs. We are not from Wilmington , but visit this area often, and we both agree that NIcola’s is our favorite Wilmington area restaurant! Thank you Nick and Krissie for a fine dining experience for us both! We will definitely recommend you to our friends and family!
