I have visited this restaurant a few times and it has always been a very pleasant, and tasty place to eat. It is located in a small alley between some buildings near the cotton exchange. The location is really cool. The food is served quick, a great assortment of food on the menu is available, and everything tastes good. The food needs a little bit of work to make it perfect, but it’s still very good. The waiter was extremely friendly and I will definitely go back and recommend.
The crab bisque was bland and lukewarm. The sirloin was 1/4 gristle and completely under seasoned. The service was slow and at times, completely absent. I did enjoy the beer selection and the garlic mashed potatoes, but I won’t be trying this place again.
Paddy’s Hollow (Cotton Exchange). Service was fine, but the meal left a lot to be desired. The portobello sub turned out to be a sub roll topped with mozzarella and batter-dipped, deep fried mushrooms (the small ones). And a couple of shrimp that must have been in the fryer at the same time. Most people might see that as a bonus, but as a vegetarian, I was not impressed.
Disappointment abounds. Very disappointed. Great venue, and atmosphere, but that was the only good part of our experience. We had been wanting to try this place for quite some time, so were very optimistic.. After a bit of a wait, we were seated, and placed our drink order. They were out of the beer we order, and the bar tender just yelled across to us that they were out of that. We of course had no idea she was talking to us, until the waitress came back and asked if we had figured out what we wanted yet. We placed our second order and received it about 5 minutes later. as we drank our beers, wondering when any one was going to come take our order, people who had come in after us, were already receiving their food. 27 minutes later, still no one to take our order, so we paid our bill and left. The lackluster staff makes what could be a great little place, a huge disappointment.. It is a shame we were unable to try the food, it may have redeemed itself. Than again maybe not we will not be back. Too many other good places in this town with good food and good staff to waste more time here.
To much like bar food
Sadly disappointed. Good atmosphere, good beer, and decent service..to say the food was lacking would be a compliment. The problem started when we ordered chicken wings as an appetizer. The wings came out very cold in the center, sent them back and got another order.. only to have them come out the exact same way again. Then the main courses arrived, my wife’s steak sandwich ordered medium rare came out well done and my selection could have been better prepared by an applebee’s kitchen. They were very accommodating to the fact that our meal was bad, but definitely would not recommend this location for anything more than a glass of beer. ALSO a couple came in while we were eating and was seated… 20 minutes went by and not one restaurant employee even approached their table.
Good food and quality. I have never had a bad meal here either. They have the best salads downtown (huge, not just iceburg lettuce, and great prices), their Guiness french onion soup is divine, and I love the atmosphere.
