Good food.. We were worried by some of the reviews before we tried this place. Glad we took the risk. Started with the complimentary cornbread muffins. Very good, fresh and quick. We had calamari as an app. Light and tender and a good portion. Also, two good sauces with them. Two children, 7 and 9, had sghetti and shrimp and scallop scampi. My wife ordered crab cakes and I ordered shrimp and grits. (One of my favorite dishes which is a regional specialty) It is prepared differently here than most. The grits are cooked in a cake under the shrimp…great! The sauce and preparation for the dish was fantastic. My wife and children gave a thumbs up for their orders as well. I recommend the place highly. Only issue was aneven floors make it a little like the bad guy hideouts in the old Batman tv show. Crayons roll right off the table. Lol

Just ok. If you are looking for a place based on its historic atmosphere, this isn’t it. The place is on the river, which is nice but the renovations of the building over the years has taken away from its charm. There seems to have been very little attempt to preserve the charms of the old buildings. The food was ok. My partner and I had the pimento cheese dip which was good. The rolls and cornbread muffins were also good. He had oysters on the half shell and the peasant salad which he said were both good. I had a pecan chicken entree that just wasn’t very good. The sauce for the chicken was great but there just wasn’t enough of it to flavor the chicken. The chicken came with creamy grits but the grits weren’t prepared correctly – which really took away from the overall enjoyment of the dish.

Very good food and good service. The hostess worked our table of 10 seated in 10 minutes as walk ins at 7:30 on a Saturday night.

Terribly disappointing. We went here to celebrate a birthday with reservations well ahead of time. The restaurant was empty but it took over 10 minutes to see a server once seated and everything was slow and seemed to be a laborious chore. When the food arrived they’d forgotten two meals. When they brought them 10 minutes later, the fish on one was completely raw and not edible. We are easy customers but this was ridiculous- we didn’t receive an apology, the manager was never called, and we were expected to pay full price for the ruined food. We ended up finished before the final meal ever came. What a depressing birthday meal, will absolutely never return or recommend. Too many nice places with wonderful service downtown.

AWFUL. As a local, who has always found this restaurant to be very good, today was very disappointing. Reopening with a new concept ruined the restaurant.None of the food was even fair. The local burger joints are better.Sorry this has happened to such a previously wonderful restaurant. The cook and server were less than mediocre. Will NEVER go back or recommend it. The quality is GONE

Fantastic Food. We have eaten there many, many times…the staff and food are nothing but excellent … every time it’s the same great food….will always return…luv everything from the seafood to the hamburgers…and anything in between….and agree their corn muffins beat all!!!!
