Very good ice cream and a good place to stop on a hot day. The waffle cones are big and scoops are generous. We had several different flavors – all was very good.

Good; not great. Ice cream was creamy but the serving didn’t yield many of the ingredients in the flavor. For instance, I ordered the salted caramel with peanuts and it was mostly just vanilla ice cream. Very little caramel or peanuts. Made me sad. I like caramel and peanuts.

Horrible customer service. The staff acts like you are an inconvenience and as a customer I should feel welcome and appreciated . I can’t give a review on the product because after paying I couldn’t bring myself to eat it after as how I had been treated just sunk in,I tossed it in the trash and walked out. $10 lesson learned

Nine of us got icecream and it was ok. Some above average some just average. Unfortunately flavor doesn’t come close to Calabash Creamery which we are used to! If you want the best of the beach got to go down to calabash!!

Not worth the trip. The staff was unfriendly, frankly annoyed with having customers and the ice cream tasted like it was made with watered down 2% milk, if that.

The BEST ice cream in Wilmington. This is my favorite ice cream store and the ONLY one I recommend in Wilmington. Everything is handmade and fresh. You may even encounter some new, creative flavors, too. If you don’t know what to order, get the sampler bowl with four little scoops of ice cream. Doing this changed my lifetime perception of the ice cream experience. I loved the same flavor of ice cream for over thirty years, but then I visited Boombalati’s a few years ago and tried Cinnamon Caramel Oatmeal Cookie ice cream as part of my first sampler. BOOM! My new favorite! It obliterated the memory of my previous favorite flavor of ice cream. I went back to the counter and ordered more of the best ice cream I had ever tasted in my entire life.So what if the owner and servers aren’t chatty and overly social? I don’t need that in an ice cream store, but if you do, just go some cookie-cutter chain that has the fake friendly service you crave and eat their bland confections. You’ll be leaving the BEST ICE CREAM in Wilmington to the rest of us. As a shy introvert, I am perfectly happy to support the business of another shy introvert. I don’t even know the man or his staff, but it really upsets me when people come from out of town and don’t understand what this store is all about. It is about WONDERFUL ICE CREAM, not asking about your day, chatting about the weather or admiring your baby. It’s not about smiling insincerely at you when you ask for free samples and informing you cheerfully of the store’s policy not to give them. It’s not about pacifying you when you don’t like the store’s policy of not giving free samples. He doesn’t need to give free samples because everything is AMAZING! For crying out loud, just get the sampler and discover what you’ve been missing in life. For those of you who think his kind of service leads to an unsuccessful business, all I have to say is he’s still selling his product because Wilmington loves his ice cream. If he served inferior ice cream, I can see how the absence of forced, toothy smiles might impact his business. However, that’s not the case here.In fact, I think this kind of service is probably the reflection of a personality difference, not a business choice. This man is a GENIUS with ice cream, so I celebrate his personality, too. I took a young lady from Sweden and another one from England to visit the store, today. We had a lovely conversation with the owner. He was cheerful and friendly. We complimented him on his ice cream and he seemed sincerely pleased that we enjoyed it so much.

Yum!. They have a lot of great, creative flavors, and the ice cream is rich and creamy. I love the option of the sampler, with 4 small scoops. Who cares if they don’t offer free samples? Just get what sounds good! I’ve been here many times and the service has always been polite and quick, even when they’re busy. Oh, and to the user that claimed there’s a Baskin Robbins next door? Not since I’ve lived here… but there is a Dunkin Donuts (not a DD/BR combo store). Even if there were a BR next door, I’d choose Boombalatti’s every time!
