We are visiting from out of town and asked the front desk at the hotel we are staying for a dining recommendation and they suggested the Dockside restaurant. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. The hush puppies were overcooked and therefore tough. We ordered the spicy shrimp for an appetizer and it was obvious they came out of a bag frozen with a sauce that was probably purchased at the local grocery store poured over it. My wife ordered the crabcakes and scallops and I ordered the fish tacos. The crabcake was very bland and also seemed like it came out of the freezer, and the scallops were barely seasoned at all and did not taste fresh whatsoever. My fish tacos were made with blackened swordfish and although they were better than the crabcakes and scallops, they were still very disappointing. If you’re looking for fresh seafood, go somewhere else.

What a great find! Of course anyplace near the water works for us! This casual waterside restaurant is a gem. From the friendly waitstaff to the hot hush puppies brought to your table, you gotta try it. I ordered the seared yellowfin tuna tacos. Props to the chef for knowing how to sear such a delicious fish. The tacos came dressed in a spicy house made aioli with lettuce and some other veggies. Normally I prefer cabbage on fish tacos, but this was a good choice given the tender tuna. A side of slaw made up for the lack of crunch in the taco. Well balanced flavors and textures made this an excellent dish. My wife had the Low Country Grilled Cheese. Talk about flavor! Fried green tomatoes, bacon, two kinds of cheese and house made Texas Pete aioli between thick slices of toasted bread. Happiness in every bite (I know because I took a couple). She ordered the house potato salad as a side, which was also very delightful. Watching the water roll past, listening to the boats, and sitting in the southern sun all added up to a wonderful experience. We will be back for sure!
