orderedappetizer: Fried picklesdinner: Fish tacosfried pickles were very good. whole pickle sliced in half french cut. wrapped in an egg roll shell. again, very good.Fish tacos: ingredients were fresh, avacado, mango salsa, tomato green pepper, coleslaw. everything separated out on the plate, like a construction site. With all of the ingredients, i was able to construct 3 very different fish tacos. great if you liked playing with legos growing up. (i did. and still do.) i felt it lacked a sauce, or distinct flavor, which led it to seem dry. which makes its hard to identify a clear intention of the chef when there are so many options left to the guest. the fish itself was nicely cooked but then it was just another construction piece. Ambiance – brick walls and trendy local artwork. a little chilly. for August. bring a sweater. Wait staff – friendly and engaging.it took a little longer than expected for dinner to arrive (about 45 min total).classy points – the water carafe and whiskey glasses.
We got the recommendation from our hotel front desk. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in this downtown restaurant. Delicious fried pickles as an appetizer and elk burger for our main course. The elk was done medium rare which was/is perfect for this dish. Very yummy! Great martini menu also!
Not worth the money!. My husband and I went to the Toasted Frog for the first time hoping to have an awesome experience, how wrong I was. My husband ordered the filet ($28) and the pad of butter was as big as the filet, which was suppose to be 8 oz., the butter was not melting at all when he got it. He had sweet potatoe fries which were over cooked and the filet had very little flavor. I ordered the fire roasted rock tail lobster($36), it was over cooked an very tough and not even close to the 12-14 oz’s it was suppose to be. I also had the roasted garlic and rosemary potatoes and it was hard for me to find maybe half of them not burnt and very dry. We also tried the fried pickles and I couldn’t tell there was even cheese in them. We were there around 5 pm so it wasn’t like they were busy. I will not be returning anytime soon!
