The drinks were great. Imaginative combinations and well balanced. The food was a bit disappointing. Very, very heavy and butter laden. No depth of flavor, tasting as it all came from the same pan. No bright, crisp or punchy flavors. Very one note. Fabulous service and atmosphere. Would definitely return for cocktails but not for food.
Get-away on busy downtown days. We love going to the HoDo especially when everywhere is packed and crowded. It might get crowded in there too, but usually less than any other places downtown, and surely the atmosphere makes up for it. Great wines, good selection of whiskey, tap beer is usually on the craft side, and the clientele is pretty well-behaved. Drinks are well made, but the servers might sometime be a little on the arrogant side. However, we have met great down to earth servers over there, and I highly recommend the Hodo Lounge to all. Try their walleye fish, yum!
Bison is a must. Their bison burger was unbelievable. Recommended by the server … when I said I do beef medium rare, she took the extra step of recommending med to med well with it. She was dead on. It comes with mayo and I asked for something spicier so they whipped up a chipotle aioli. My guess is everything on the menu is outstanding. Service, atmosphere, food. All 3 are outstanding- tough for a restaurant to do, as picky as I am. It’s not a compliment I give out often.
Great atmosphere!. The fun martinis are definitely a treat! Food is great, too. Had the mushroom torte appetizer which was a must try for mushroom fans!
Great little lounge, the bison burger was pretty good and they had a nice selection of beers.
Fargo Chic. The HoDo Lounge is the perfect hang out if you’re looking for beautiful people and delicious food. Feeling a little old and a little ugly didn’t stop me from taking advantage of a great menu and a enjoying a lively crowd. Think Fargo is a backwards city in a prairie wasteland? Go to the HoDo Lounge and the Hotel Donaldson and think again.
They are a wine bar with white zinfandel on the wine menu.
