A sincere, warm location. High vaulted ceilings prompt the atmosphere for conversation, inspiring oneself and finding good in the world. A definite spot to pause in in Fargo.
Eccletic. That’s the word I’d use to describe Red Raven. Not sure what it is about the place specifically, but the atmosphere is very charming and calming…just what you want in a place like this. You can sit outside (highly recommend parking in the back) or inside. It’s an old fire house and it provides the back drop for a very cool experience! Eric, was the name of the individual working behind the counter and was very nice, very informative with changes to the menu, explained the shops brief history, and was knowledgeable about the beans being served. The food, vegetarian, wasn’t amazing but good enough to recharge the batteries. Not much to choose from in the sandwich dept, but I recommend the Sloppy Duck. But, you don’t go to Red Raven for the food…you go for the coffee. It’s EXCELLENT! It’s all Raven’s Brew Coffee…and it is wonderful! I had a cup of Deadman’s Reach (fantastic Dark Roast), and my wife had a Frappe Raven (awesome as well). So, go for the atmosphere, go for the entertainment (they highlight local artists in a variety of formats), and go for the coffee!
Independent and eclectic.. The shop is cooperatively ran and is a living, working, art space. They serve minimal food stuffs (local bagels, some baked goods) and have just started also serving sandwiches, etc. at lunch (sometimes later). Their food is vegetarian if not vegan. There is a used book section, free internet, and lots of art all in an incredible space. I’m excited to spend some of my free time this summer in their outdoor space – use the parking in the back once and it’ll melt your heart. I’m prone to wasting Saturday mornings in one of their big comfy booths.
