Much better than Taverns back home. Drinks were 1.50-2.00 a shot, cant go wrong with that even with exchange rate. There was also a deal of a pound of boneless wings for $4.00 when we went. The wings were surprisingly quite good, crispy outside and juicy on the inside,with a boatload of sauces to pick from. We would definitely take advantage of these specials again when we return.
United Tavern = Decent Time & Decent Food. Honest, Just and Simple…..For a restaurant in G.F., ND claiming to have classic English Food, they are not half bad. Having lived in England and in Maine, its hard to compare a Mid States Restaurant to Britain or Coastal Maine. I’ll start off with the not so great…The Clam Chowder or Chowda as it should be was a far cry from actual Chowda. The Taste was bland but the ingredients were right. I believe if it were allowed to simmer alot longer and the cook wasn’t afraid of Salt and Pepper then it could have been something good. On the other hand we are no where near the ocean or Maine so I cant hold them accountable. The Sweet Chili Chicken Was pretty Good, a fusion of East meets Middle East. Flavor was good. The Fish and Chips although not the same as Fish and Chips on the English Coast wasn’t bad either. Good Portions of Halibut in a classic English Batter, and decent sized Chips (Fries) on the side, add a decent amount of malt vinegar and you’ll be happy. I’ll go back to this restaurant and enjoy food again soon. If your looking for authentic don’t be fooled, but if you looking for good food, Great atmosphere and a Good time, then The Tavern is a great Place to Consider. Happy Eating to you all.
