The Problem with these review sites. Marcella is a Holtman. Her father founded Holtman’s Donuts in the early 1960’s. The problem with these sites is, they don’t give the proprietors a response to these reviews. Marcella uses the same recipe that her father developed to make the Holtman donuts what they are. The trolls that wrote some of these reviews don’t have a clue to what they are talking about, or they are a krony of someone trying to give a bad name. Now, everyone has a bad day now and then. Employers don’t always have control over what employees do and if something goes wrong one time, the employer doesn’t know until after the fact. So, if someone has a bad experience, they should talk to the proprietors before they go and spout their anger on some 2nd rate review site.
Doughnuts. Absolutely amazing yeast doughnuts! At least three generations of bakers (check out the photos on the wall). Make sure to get the Baker’s Dozen!
Nasty Donuts. This place is terrible. They claim they are the same as a Holtman’s donuts but they are far from that. The dough is greasy and their icing/glazes are waxy and leaves a terrible taste in my mouth. I’ve heard that the owner tried to use the Holtman name without the consent of Holtman’s Donuts and it still seems like they’re trying to piggy back off of their fame. Marcella should be ashamed for trying to steal all the hard work that they have been doing to build up that brand. It’s clear that her trying to say she’s a Holtman is harming the Holtman brand because Marcella’s donuts are just plain nasty! Stop tarnishing a well known small business and just stick to ruining your own Marcella!
Support this place!. Lovely couple and so great to see an independent bakery in today’s world…the donuts was wonderful and lots of variety every time I have stopped by. Expanding into breads I understand, that would be great! Hope they have lots of success with this!
Love these folks. Doughnuts are amazing. If you want to make sure to get fresh and hot, stop in the night before! Their Kettles are amazing!!!
Unprofessional & never Prepared. Marcella’s since day 2 has been unprepared and unprofessional. They never have enough Pastry’s and Doughnuts. Today was no different. It being Sat. I went in and they had left 4 canolli’s and Blueberry Turnover. Then when I purchase all of them they tell me I have to make a $5.00 purchase on my credit card! When I say I would but they have nothing left to sell he sells it to me? Terrible, Old, stale, why did I think today would be any different.. So disappointed.. Amelia ex customer
The best doughnnuts. This place has the best doughnuts. Whenever we are in the Cincinnati area, we make a special trip out to Amelia to grab a dozen of these awesome crispy doughnuts. Go early on a weekend for the best selection, they sell out fast!
