Rude Staff,Rude Prices. Food is mediocre,Service was rude and unresponsive.I suppose thats why the tip is included in the price of the meal.I wish I could deduct 30% from the bill to show what I thought of the service.They messed up my meal and waited forever to have it corrected only to get it cold and greasy.We will not be back till they change thier tipping policy,and get staff that actually care about serving hot food at a decent price.We used to go here on a regular basis but no more.
Long-time Athens Resident review of Casa Nueva Cantina. I have been going to Casa for 25+ years.Here’s what it is: it is a social gathering place catering to long-time townies and the older college crowd; with good drinks, fresh but uninteresting food, terrible service (rude and downright ignorant waitstaff and managers) and the most unorganized billing you will ever experience.They operate in a niche that they own, and feel no need to try to improve anything.They have no idea how bad their service and billing is, as they are in the hothouse of Athens, Ohio, and have never had training; competition has never forced improvement, and they really have no knowledge of possible comparisons.If you accept it for what it is, you will probably have a good time.If you go with the expectation of receiving the type of service that you would get in a more competitive environment, you will be disappointed.That’s it…
Much Better than average Mexican meal. Certainly not your average Mexican meal. I had a nice quesadilla (seasonal was what they called it) that was well browned ( not burned) on the outside with crispy, roasted radishes inside plus cheese and some other tasty fillings. I love cheese but sometimes quesadillas are so cheese filled that they are greasy. Not this one. Just the right mix of fillings. Great beer selection too.

Just exactly what I want. I am a vegetarian and a supporter of health foods (meat or non-meat foods) and this restaurant delivers a variety of tasty healthy foods. Any food that is made with meats can be substituted for tofu, also the patron can substitute dairy cheese for vegan cheese. My experience was very good. The service was quick, though my server was not exactly the friendliest, in fact she seemed a little pretentious. A health food eater like myself or a more traditional eater would I believe would enjoy Casa Nueva. It’s worth the try!
WOW …. !!!. Who would ever expect to find such great food in this tiny town. Homade salsa vary daily and are out of this world. Huevos Rancheros alone are worth the trip from Columbus !
Unusual but always fantastic.. When I first went to Casa Nueva, my friend told me it was texmex. It’s not! It’s more like if you described texmex to a hippy chef and then had him try to recreate it from memory a week later; you won’t get what you were expecting, but it will still be delicious.
