Typical Mexican food without anything special. It was good though, service was fair though we waited for a long time as it was very busy. If youre not looking for anything but generic but good Mexican, then this is the place.
Disappointed. One of my favorite spots when I attended school at OU. My brother is now a student there and as he is finishing final exams for his senior year, he went there with a group of friends to celebrate. I called the restaurant to buy some pitchers of margaritas to be sent over to their table, but was told that there was no time for that and my request (and service) was denied. Absolutely ridiculous and I’m so disappointed in the customer service.

Great service, relaxing, oooo the food melts in you’re mouth !!! Not expensive. Hope they are around a long time on e state street. Fav spot to eat.
Our go-to family restaurant. We love Gran Ranchero! I’ve never had a bad meal here. My favorite may be the sopa Azteca, a chicken tortilla soup that is a meal in itself even though it’s listed with the appetizers. The pork carnitas also are great — super-tender slow-cooked pork. House-made salsa can be uneven in spiciness and amount of cilantro (which I hate), but it’s never awful. Kids love the cheese quesadillas and the cheese dip. Nice family atmosphere. Oh, and beware the margaritas! Even a regular-sized one may impair your driving capabilities.
Great $5 Wednesday Deal!. If you like authentic, quick Mexican food, then Gran Ranchero is for you, especially for lunch on Wednesdays. The entire lunch menu us priced at $5 on Wednesdays which is a pretty good deal towards the end of the month when you are stretching the dining dollars. Overall, the atmosphere is great, the music selection is interesting (kinda slow with Spanish lyrics at times but it got more up tempo on our way out and I was able to do some merengue on my way out the door). I like it.
