Mediocre food at a high price. I don’t mind spending a lot of money for a great dining experience now and then. This was not it. Though the veggies and rice were good, I had baked cod that was dried out and rather tasteless. It was very loud and service was not friendly or attentive. We were very disappointed.
Great Dinner. We had a wonderful dinner at Zoe. Great food, great service, highly recommended.
We love this place! The food is great, the service is friendly, and the cocktails are amazing.
Fantastic restaurant. This isn’t just a good restaurant, this is a great restaurant. The wait staff are friendly, engaging, and responsive. We got excellent descriptions of various menu options from our server, Suzanne. But the food is why you come to a restaurant, and the dinners at Zoe are magnificent.I had the daily special, which was a seared skirt steak served with pecan butter, asparagus, glazed carrots, and rice. The steak had been marinated in an orange bourbon marinade, and was perfectly grilled and very tender. The asparagus was perfectly steamed, and the carrots were amazing. But what shocked me was the rice. I expected just plain white rice to help soak up some of the sauces, but this was basmati rice, perfectly fluffy and delicately scented with cardamom and other spices. The flavor simply exploded in my mouth, and perfectly complimented the flavors in the other components of my meal.We live in Dayton, and only pass through Athens four or five times a year. But Zoe will be a reason to get off the highway and spend a quiet hour or two at the table next time we’re through there.
Zoe is amazing!. I consider myself a great cook and feel that I can make incredible dishes at home. There are special occasions where I like to let others do the cooking for me and Zoe is always my first choice. I ate there last week with my boyfriend for his birthday. I had not eaten there in a while and was at first a little worried that I would not find any vegan options. (Went vegan in September) To my surprise, they have really added a lot more vegetarian friendly menu items as well as a vegan dish! I was so happy to see this. I know that the staff at Zoe would be able to accommodate strange requests from me, but I hate being THAT customer, so I was delighted to order the Appalachian Paella. It was flavorful and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I was so happy to see the use of local spelt berries in place of rice! My boyfriend’s duck dish looked delicious as well. I have never been disappointed by a meal at Zoe and look forward to eating there more often. I love restaurants that can accommodate a variety of diet choices without compromising creativity and flavor. THANKS!
Great food, on the pricey side, but what I had was worth it. Decor is not what you’d expect for the type of food they serve, but I’d rather have good food than worry about the place being renovated.
Wonderful. The last time I went to Zoe I had the chopped salad and chicken picatta. Both were lovely. I miss theri old place in The Plains but the food continues to be great.Joan StrohAthens, OHio
