Totally not worth the money.
I need to go back. I’ve only been here once, but I keep meaning to go back. had a really good time, and the food was excellent. The downside is the wait when they’re busy, but the food makes your patience pay off.
Great flavor!! The veal saltiboca is incredible. I usually take food home. I have eaten here at least seven times and still love it. This is a place to go for authentic Italian.
One of Cleveland’s Finest. Fratello’s must be one of the best restaurants in Cleveland, that never seems to get the press it deserves. This small gem in Avon Lake serves some the best, if not the best, Italian food in Northern Ohio. It succeeds on every level, from the food to the service. If it’s your first time here, you must go with the veal. It is the most tender veal around, and has never dipped in quality. All the sauces are homemade, and you can taste the difference. I tried the Shrimp Fratello for the first time recently, and it was out of this world. The clams casino are with the trip alone.
Consistent quality. I often carry out from here, and love the Chicken Parm and Linguine with Red Clam Sauce. Service is friendly. Very unassuming location, but a real gem in Avon Lake.
Better than Little Italy. Fratellos is a hidden gem of the west side and better than any place my husband and I have eaten in Little Italy. It is, hands down, the best Italian food in Cleveland (IMHO). My whole family has been frequenting Fratellos since the late 90’s and the food has consistently been outrageously good. Favorites are 1) eggplant rollatini appetizer (thin, super tender layers of eggplant rolled with nicely seasoned ricotta mixture and covered in marinara. 2) Mozzarella marinara is not the gross deep-fried cheese you’re used to at most places — it’s lightly breaded, pan-fried slabs of good mozzarella cheese smothered in the best marinara around — YUM) and 3) Linguini marinara is fantastic — I always ask for extra sauce. They have a very rustic, fresh sauce that is simply brilliant. Their house salad dressing is excellent and available for purchase if you ask. They have piping hot fresh baked bread and herb butter. The prices are great for the quality — almost everything is under $20. They have wonderful specials, including seafood specials that change frequently. This is a very small restaurant so MAKE RESERVATIONS or be prepared to wait at the bar (also small) for a good while on a Friday or Saturday night (unless you’re there when they open at five). It’s a nice place, white linen table coverings etc. but the dress is either casual (jeans & sweater) or dressy if you’re headed to the theater or elsewhere after dinner. My husband and I mostly get take-out these days because we have a two year-old and it’s just easier that way. They pack up the take-out nicely. One caveat — they only do take out orders on the hour so if you order at 5:15 you can’t pick up your food until 6pm. Well worth the wait though and nice for people driving from a distance or grabbing dinner on the way home from work. We live in Westlake and make the 15 minute trip gladly & often. Once you try this place, you will be back — guaranteed.
Everything drenched in butter sauce! Expensive for what you get! Server dumped water all over my kid and never apologized! Won’t rush back! I have eaten here before and not really enjoyed it. Have friends who like it.
