Ok so it’s not true Mongolian…. ..however it’s very very good food. all fresh food that you choose and assemble. Then they fry it for you. If you don’t like it then you put it together wrong! They have menus and recipe cards for you. The staff is very together and pleasing. You are looked after quite nicely. They make it a fun experience!
Its okay.. Not true Mongolian bbq. BD’s tries to combine Asian with Mexican and American. A True Mongolian grill uses a huge upside down gong which BD’s doesn’t not have. Worth trying at least once.
Not a big fan.. To me, the food is below average and overpriced. I usually am very open to any kind of food but BD’s is not very appetizing. You basically pick your meat, veggies and rice and they cook it up for you. A dinner for two will cost over $50. Probably won’t go back.
Tasty and up to you. Whats better than a great selection, and you can choose how completely unhealthy or health you want? I fell in love with Flat Top in Chicago and once BD opened at the Greene it really brought some joy to my life. Nothing better than creating your own perfect sauce to compliment your choice of meats and veggies.
Not so good.. I have been here several times. The food is usually ok but I always feel bad afterwards. My stomach. I think they need to make sure people don’t put too many spices on their plates. In a big pot recipe you might only put 1-2 teaspoons of certain spices but in the restaurant people put that on one plate.
Good but overpriced…. I really like this place, and it’s concept. Improvements however, need to be made. The last time I went, it was $12.99 for one bowl or $13.99 for all you can eat. While that is a good incentive for those who eat like swine, most people cannot finish one bowl and end up paying for those who eat three. You really cannot get a bad bowl unless you have no common sense and mix things that don’t go together, but sometimes the staff’s grilling will make you gasp. I have seen them use their utensils to cook several different bowls, and have always wondered when they would use them on a shrimp infested bowl and cause someone with a shellfish allergy to blow up and fall over. The salad bar and soup is very lacking, and only needs to be tried once for you to decide to skip it from then on. I really like to eat here because I can always control what ingredients are in my bowl and how much, and love the fact that I can get an egg in it if I want. If you’re a dessert person, they have this apple sundae thing that is to die for, even though I can’t remember the name of it. They serve Sam Adams Oktoberfest in season and I was tempted to get drunk, but refrained.
Overcooked. While the service is good and the offerings are of a good variety, the food is always overcooked. My cook used the same utensils on my meal that he used on the raw fish next to him. Yuck.
