  • Great Beer Now!

Pizza and beer are staples of my diet and I really like it when I can find a place that specializes in both, with large selections each of beer and pizza pie. A recent trip to the Dayton, Ohio area landed me smack dab inside an establishment that does, indeed, have a penchant for both pizza and brew. The restaurant is called Pies and Pints, located in The Greene, near Interstate 675.From the outside, Pies and Pints looks like an Irish pub, but once you walk through the door, you know youre in a beer bar. You cant miss the bar, greeting you as you enter and proudly displaying about 35 taps of delicious brew. I opened my visit with a full serving of a local beer before pondering over the menu and selecting a pizza. I was torn among many options, but finally selected the chicken gouda pizza. It was fresh and delicious and matched quite nicely with my beer. I ended up sampling a few more beers before my visit was complete, as there were many to try and as a beer writer for the blog Great Beer Now, I wanted to discover more about the local beer scene. With the food, I found out that Pies and Pints is not just a place for pizza. They also serve salads, appetizers, and sandwiches. So, even if youre not in a pizza mood, I wouldnt let that discourage you since there are other menu options. I was very close to ordering the steak and cheese sandwich when I visited, but I couldnt resist the pizza. Ill have to save the sandwich for a return visit. The atmosphere at Pies and Pints isnt the most exciting. There isnt really anything memorable about it and it seemed a little dark inside. But once you start to feast on a pizza and fine craft beer, youll find that you dont mind the surroundings and that they really dont matter. The beer and pizza and reason enough to visit Pies and Pints and its a place every beer lover should consider for lunch, dinner, or just for brew. greatbeernow.com

Large crowd, Beer, Beer and More Beer! Char broiled wings were a great start, we built our own pie, hand tossed, pepperoni, basil, spinach, olives, and anchovies and were delighted with the outcome, we will be back!

Pies are great! Some menu items left more to be desired, like the wings. Prices seem average for what you get, maybe a little high for some items. Food comes out hot and delicious. Drinks are cold and refreshing.
