Visited this eatery last night and was most pleasantly surprised. There has been a recent name chage to Milya Cafe and the location is a little obscure. The food was delicious with generous portions and very reasonable prices. We ordered the chicken shawarma platter, gyro platter, hummus and two sodas all for about $25. The staff were very friendly! Will definitely return. SOON!

We got carryout from here tonight, a wide variety just to sample what they do. The falafels are small but have a great burst of flavor. The tabbouleh is a nice mix of the usual and not salty, so it’s just the natural parsley, onion and tomato flavors. The hummus is, well, hummus. The main courses are HUGE and very cheap for what you get, and the food is very fresh and tasty. I got the chicken schwarma platter with rice and salad. The rice is flavored nicely and not overcooked. The salad was greens with olives, banana peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and feta with a good olive oil dressing. The chicken schwarma was about twice as much meat as I was expecting. My husband got a gyro. They come in regular and extra large sizes. We got the regular platter with fries and salad instead of rice. I watched him make this. He cut the meat off the spit, at least a pound. I assumed it was for the crowd of people in there (on a Sunday night!). He seared it, then piled half on the pita and topped it with sauce. I was surprised at how much he put on there. Then he added the rest. My husband, who has no trouble eating a full sub, said it was too big. That and the fries (not made there) and the salad were $7.50. The only thing a little average was the baklava. That said, I have schwarma, rice and salad to last me for lunch for the next two days at least. I think this is a great place for a family- they have things like cheeseburgers on the menu for the non-adventurous and you definitely get your money’s worth of fresh, mostly handmade food.I need to add that this this food did not taste over-seasoned with salt the way many places do these days. That was very welcome to us. So if you like your food that way, bring a salt shaker. For us though it was a relief. Edit: this review was created when the restaurant was named Al-Amir. I have no idea if the management or the food is the same now.Edit 2: Went there last night and had the same thing to see if it was the same. It was. It’s the same owner too, they just changed the name of the restaurant to their daughter’s name.

The gyros are big, meaty and tasty. We will definitely be back. The hummus is a little thick for my taste, but that’s just a matter of personal preference.

My family and I were looking for something a bit different and are so glad we stumbled upon Al-Amire Cafe in Blue Ash. The food is fresh and delicious! The food is made to order, but the wait was no longer than (e.g.) Panera. We had Chicken Swarma and Kafta platters with Hummus and Falfel appetizers. The decor is fairly basic, but the prices are great for the amount of food you get. If you like Middle Eastern cuisine Al-Amire Cafe is a winner!

Great small place and the prices are fair. I had the chicken shawarma and a side of fried mushrooms. The shawarma was excellent. It was filling and had great flavor. The mushrooms weren’t anything special but were good if you like fried mushrooms. My friend also got the shawarma but got the Greek fries. They were good and enough for two to share. It had an oil on them I couldn’t place but add good flavor. There was plenty of feta on the fries also. Get the canned pop to save money on the final cost. I’ll be returning soon.
