I have a sweet tooth, so it’s surprising for me to not like a cookie, but I actually did not like Insomnia cookies. I know other people like this place, but I tried a bite and didn’t want the rest. They’re probably fine if you’re not a picky eater, but it’s obviously cheap ingredients. If I’m going to eat that many calories I want it to taste like it’s worth it. These cookies are just not worth it for me.

Cookie Jar could learn a few things from these guys. There are two businesses in Bowling Green that offer fresh baked cookies and cold milk delivered to your home. One is locally owned and operated, the other is a chain with stores near college campuses in the Northeast and Midwest. While I usually like to support home town businesses, in this case the chain is far and away the winner. Insomnia Cookies, which has about 20 stores nationwide as of August, 2013, beats the pants off the local competitor, The Cookie Jar & More. Insomnia’s cookies have better flavor and texture, and a wider selection of cookies is available to choose from. The staff at Insomnia are always friendly and considerate, and if they tell you your cookies will be ready in 20 minutes, they will be; the folks at Cookie Jar have serious issues with customer service and time management. It isn’t that the cookies are any better than what I can make at home, or that the concept of delivery cookies is so novel, but if I’m going to call someone and have them bring me dessert I’m going to go with the friendlier staff and better tasting product, and in this case the local business has a lot of catching up to do. Insomnia Cookies will continue to get my business.

Undercooked, flavorless, disgusting. No matter how late you order, they’ll disappoint.
