I tried the food from Empanadas Aqui yesterday at the #joschcares Foodtruck Festival in Cincinnati Ohio. The aromatic smells drifting from this truck was enough to make me wait an hour to purchase empanadas. I watched as the few employees worked in such a tightly compact space. They chopped veggies, sauteed meat, and smashed plaintains. My mouth watered before i even placed the first order. The menu boasted the Bad Birl and Carne Machada. I opted to go with Carne Machada which included beef, peppers, and onions. The Tostones, which i make on a regular basis at home, were the best Ive ever tasted. They were freshly deep fried, sliced to the right consistency, and flavored with crumbled queso blanco and white sauce. The white sauce was unlike anything Ive ever eaten. It was a mix between a garlic aoili and an herb flavored creme fraiche. The empanada was flaky, and the crust was cooked to a golden perfection. However, I was not wow’ed by the carne Machada. The flavors listed to be included did not seem to be highlighted. I would suggest this restaurant. Everything was 4$ an item. The portions are medium sized, but the flavors were large!!!
