First time visit with a party of 4 on a Saturday evening with reservations. Nice but small space. Only one waitress by design…..she is on top of things and you have a leisurely experience. This is Loretta Paganini’s place, tightly affiliated with her cooking school (next door). Basically, you are dining in the front of an old converted house. Kitchen has glass wall right where you walk in. Everything fresh, prepared from scratch and much is locally sourced. Italian is their specialty. The menu is small but varied. Also 2 prefix menus that change every 3 months. So hard to decide what to order! The best way to solve the problem is to order the 3pasta special, where you get 3 small plates of any pasta on the menu plus desert. I opted for the crab ravioli, fetuccinni carbonara, and the Pappardelle alla Molisana (lamb ragu). The Pappardelle was my favorite, although they were all amazing in their own right. House starts you off with a couple different breads and light olive oil. Started the meal with 2 homemade crabcakes,….competitive with anything on the east coast…..fresh, minimal filler and bursting with crab flavor; lightly fried. The Insalata Primavera salad is worth the trip alone. So lightly dressed. Fruit so fresh you swear they picked it before serving. The wine list was excellent as well. Others enjoyed the scallops (4 super large and tender pieces) along with the lamb. Everything expertly prepared and presented. Loretta P was in that evening and spent time at every table, discussing food and fun. Very approachable. The deserts were good but challenging after such a robust meal. They made great take-home gifts. While maybe not the best restaurant in Cleveland, it is still an excellent place. Non stuffy or stiff in any way. A really nice dinner expertly prepared in a relaxed and yet sophisticated setting. Recommend.
