Great venue for well known musicians and some good local talent. Best part? No cover. Pinball and tv in the basement, outdoor fire pit, eating area and a large bar with a tremendous drink selection. You cant go wrong here.
Great food. Music too loud.. I’m a 34 year-old with 80-year-old sensibilities. So yes, the music is too loud. The food is great however. Straight-up, no fuss burgers with traditional toppings. Mac & cheese — sooo good. Brunch menu is: (1) creative, (2) cheap, (3) delicious.
MOTR PUB: What Main St. Needed!. Back in the late 90’s and early 00’s, Main St. may not have been the nicest of neighborhoods, but there were at least a few options for people of the community to convene over a beer and some delicious food. Once Coopers and Kaldis were gone, there wasn’t anything left, and many felt without a home. Then came MOTR Pub.MOTR is located in the old Coopers on Main building, and has a great, laid back and eclectic atmosphere. They have an amazing beer selection, (I go for the Stone IPA), really friendly staff, fantastic burgers (MOTR Burger w/EVERYTHING PLEASE), tasty brunch, local art hanging on the walls, oh, and some of the best Indie Music this city and country have to offer. All of the partners who own MOTR are music scene veterans, including Dan McCabe (the creative force behind the late and great Sudsy Malones, and current director of MPMF) and Chris Schadler, the pioneer who, from 1994-2008, took the Southgate House from irrelevant old man bar, to Indy Showcase Venue. With these two, the music options are endless. In fact, tonight head down to see Franz Nicolay of the Hold Steady…. Did I also mention there is never a cover?MOTR feels like home and is Main Street’s answer to the great bars and venues of Northside. Just what the doctor ordered! A+++++
