We’ve been here a couple of times now, and frankly like it slightly better than Eli’s (which we love), with one caveat. Eli’s sauce is better. So we go to Kroger and pick up Eli’s sauce. Then we go to Pickles and Bones. First, order desert. Their deserts are insanely good. If you’re lucky enough to go in strawberry season get the shortcake. My husband loves the banana pudding, and the cobblers are great. But the meat is why you’re here. It’s got a strong smokey flavor and is super moist. I’ve had their pulled pork and chicken, their ribs, their brisket, their turkey and their hot links. The turkey wasn’t my favorite – I’ve not had smoked turkey around here that I like though. The brisket is the best I’ve had in Cincinnati. The ribs are very meaty and tender, not fatty. The pulled pork and chicken is moist and flavorful. The hot links are really good but they’re too hot for me. The husband loves them though. Any of these are excellent. Note that ribs (2 per serving) and rib tips are only served on certain days. We’ve tried most of the sides. I wasn’t really enthralled with the hoe cakes. I’d never had them and thought they were odd and dry. I love the macaroni salad and baked beans, the potato salad and sweet potatoes come in second for me. My husband always gets the coleslaw and the mac n cheese, which I admit are tasty too. We’ve not had the greens or beans, no idea why. We’ll get them next time.TL;DR: Some of the best BBQ we’ve had in Cincy, and now our favorite place here even if we do buy Eli’s sauce to put on it.

THE best BBQ I have had. We tried Eli’s and I was unimpressed. This place is amazing. I have never been a brisket person and that is what I always get here because it is so tender. Their sides are really good too. You can’t eat in but luckily we don’t live far. Definitely worth the trip if you do not live in the area. If they have ribs available I highly recommend but you can’t really go wrong.
