Since going here, I’ve been advised to only order chicken. I made the mistake of ordering beef…..15 minutes to cook a small portion of beef. If you’re in a hurry, walk right past this place=this is not fast food!. There’s no way they can prepare more than one order at once. The food was not worth the wait either, some kind of grit on the meat that maybe was supposed to be seasoning?

Yihi Japan is a teriyaki jointIf you have been to Sarku’s in the Florence Mall, or the old Sakkio of Japan that used to be in the now-defunct Carew Tower Food Court, this is the exact same thing, in every detail – your choice of rice, fried rice, or soba noddles topped with steamed veggies (if you want them – they’ll ask) and teriyaki chicken, cooked fresh right in front of you on a flat top grill, for about 6 bucks. The portion is big enough to satisfy even hearty eaters, and a typical diner can get two meals out of it. You can get beef or shrimp, either separately or in combination with the chicken, but the chicken is THE thing to get here. Inexpensive, informal, filling, and really, really good. This is in the same spot where Sarku’s operated for quite some time, and indeed, several of the employees are the same ones who worked for Sarku before they closed out about a year or so agoIf you’re not sure if you will like this – never fear, they almost always have an employee out front with samples to try for free. In addition to the chicken teriyaki, I also recommend the maki rolls. About a dollar each, these are small, smooth-skinned eggrolls that are simply better than most eggrolls I have had elsewhere. Strongly recommended
