Chocolate chips? No! Chocolate CHUNKS!. Ok seriously, most of Graeter’s ice cream flavors are pretty decent. If you stopped by to play it safe by ordering vanilla or whatnot, you may not really understand what all the hype is about. That’s kind of what I thought after I had their mocha and salted caramel. It was good but so what? Then….I tried their raspberry chocolate chip and nearly died when I had the Black Cherry Chocolate Chip. If you are in the mood for chocolate and don’t really tend to go for fruit flavors, the huge Chocolate CHUNKS in these will satisfy any chocolate craving. My absolute favorite is Black Cherry mainly because I find myself alternating between biting chocolatey goodness and actual WHOLE cherries! I like to get mine in a dark chocolate dipped waffle cone…ah, heaven.
Hot fudge should be HOT ! not cold. What’s up with that??? Twice I’ve gotten yucky cold fudge which is very gross. Cold butterscotch is even worse. Get hot, Graeter’s.
Greaters Family History. Graeter’s Ice cream is not only delicious but has a long running history in Cincinnati. The company has been family owned since 1870. Here’s a video that tells the story of the Graeter family. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWtaJiWz930Also you gotta try their Aztec Chocolate while they still have it. Especially if you love spicy food!
Go to United Dairy Farmers. Ice cream is great @ Graeter’s, but it is really expensive in comparison to other places. I know it is supposed to be some kind of Cincinnati past time, but you can get really good ice cream at UDF and it costs half as much. In review, if you’re a yuppie type that also frequents Starbucks and pays $5 for a coffee often, doesn’t mind that your huge SUV gets 9mpg when gas costs $4 a gallon, you’ll love Graeter’s.
Sorry Cincinnati… I’ll never understand the love/obsession with graeter’s. It’s just ice cream. And mediocre ice cream, at that.
Classic!. One of my favorites since I was young. Always a treat to go to this one-of-a-kind Cincy legend. The mint choc-chip is the best (with apologies to raspberry choc chip which is incredible also).
Always good. This was the first Graeter’s I ever went to. While not life-changing by any means, I think Graeter’s may be my favorite ice cream brand. They don’t sacrifice taste for nutrition, and when it comes to desserts that is what you have to do to be the best. Thick, creamy, sweet ice cream. Great location too. While shelling out $14 for a carton of Graeter’s at the grocery store may be a bit much, it takes less to satisfy an ice cream craving, and so it lasts longer. Probably not long enough to justify the price, but it is quite delicious and hard to resist sometimes.
