This is definitely a new model for getting fast food. I went to the one on High St. in the South Campus Gateway, and when you chose what you want, you do it at a kiosk. They had three. You order what you want, like you would on a website, choosing whatever type of item, such as a sub, pizza, Burger, etc. Then, they have some pre designed items, and a make your own option. I was starving, so I got two burgers. Plain, double cheeseburgers, with bacon and extra cheese. They even had an option to toast them, which I chose. They cook them in a toaster, like the ones at subway, and then they assembled them, and toasted them again. One ended up being more than enough, as the patties were 1/4 lb (rough estimate), and appeared to be the ones they sell frozen at Giant Eagle. My only disappointment, is that the bacon was that fully cooked, microwavable stuff. They had options for cheese, from American, to real cheddar (which I chose) with Swiss, and two others that I cannot remember. When you’re done ordering, the kiosk prints out a receipt that you take to the cashier to pay for, then you bring it back to pick up the food. My Burger was finished in a couple of minutes after ordering. I ended up paying $8.99 for both burgers, which isn’t bad, considering how much you get.
