The restaurant has a relaxed vibe in the upstairs of North Market. The chicken is always great and I love the mac and cheese side! Im pretty average when it comes to spicy things and would be careful picking the hot option lol.
Boy, I saw the reviews on this place and just had to try their chicken. So, I went down late one afternoon to sample their chicken. I got there at 3PM, only to realize that they are only open from 11AM – 3PM. My bad. The following week, I figured that I’d get there early to beat the crowds. So, I arrived at 11:15AM and was greeted to a long line of about 30 people. Rather than waiting, I called to order a carryout. Tried to order two chicken wing meals, but was told that they were sold out of chicken wings…15 minutes after they had opened their doors. That was so ridiculous, that it was actually amusing.Anyway, I finally called them at 11:05 last Saturday and ordered and picked up my chicken wings to go. Now, I’m wondering what all of the excitement is about. The seasoning was just OK (I tried the cold and warm varieties). The chicken was not very crisp. And, all of the chicken in my orders had an after taste like it was fried in oil or lard that was on the verge of going rancid. Not very pleasing. Anyway, glad I checked that off my list of thinks to do. Personally, Bob Evans and KFC extra crispy have FAR AND AWAY much better tasting chicken than this. Not recommended, unless you just have to taste it for yourself.
Hot Chicken Takeover keeps it simple. Chicken, a few sides, sweet tea and a dessert. Nothing fancy but everything good. Insider tip, call in your order if you are pressed for time and do it early before they run out of chicken. cmhgourmand.com
Omg what a chicken!!This is a must visit place where you can eat lot of chicken.I would suggest to go for white whole breast (Holy) or chicken drum stick(Hot)This will really burn you a lot while having and after having it, but must have.
Worth It. Yes it’s expensive, yes you have to wait in a line, and yes it’s worth it! The chicken is delicious and left my lips tingling for hours. The mac and cheese and slaw are both very tasty and not just throw-aways. I love slaw that isn’t drowned in mayonnaise and theirs is sublime. The syrup really adds something if you want to dip the chicken. My only complaint was the amount of banana pudding you get for $2.50 is a bit small.
