Lip-smacking GOOD. This is one of those hidden places that, once you discover it, you become a regular. The menu is interesting, varied, and the food is incredibly fresh and delicious. Not to mention CHEAP! (She really should charge more). I also loved all the interesting sides behind the case. I already have plans to come back and try some more of them. For our first visit, we had the gyro and roasted chicken. All of it was amazing, but the rice really blew me away. I think she must use chicken stock when she makes it.One caveat–get there early. By the time we arrived on Friday evening, the lemon chicken rice soup was already gone 🙁
Great find near Riverside Hospital. Tucked in the side of a mediterranean grocery store is a surprisingly wonderful experience… you’d never know it from the street and can easily drive past never seeing it there.Janet’s Kitchen is fantastic. The food is freshly prepared, cooked just right and you’ll not find better spanikopita (spinach pies) anywhere in town. I tried the chicken kebob and was amazed at the balance of flavors. Desserts? Oh man, be prepared for an endorphin rush. They say their food is made with love, and truly it has been prepared by someone who knows how to cook. Have been several times now and have not been disappointed. While they are mostly aimed at take-out business, there are a few tables to sit at. Sodas and other beverages are readily available on the little shop’s side – so you’re not paying $2.50 for a cola like most places charge. Prices are VERY reasonable for the quality food you’ll find here… and usully you’ll find Janet herself behind the counter, greeting you with a loving smile.
