The jerk who owns the place thinks he is Dayton’s gift to barbeque.He makes a big deal about his brisket…I got news for you Bub; it ain’t that great.To give the j*ck*ss who owns the joint his due, the smoked hamburgers are very good, and so is his pulled pork.But I’ll never go there because I don’t want to give the jerk who owns the place my money. There are other choices that are actually better.Oh, and I have news for the owner…there’s a barbeque place in Tipp City who makes his brisket taste like low-grade dog food.
Good BBQ. Pulled pork is good. Portion sizes are decent for what you pay…you won’t leave hungry and you won’t have to empty your wallet to do it. Simple straight forward BBQ–this is a no frills joint. Smoking has good stuff. Homemade potato chips and the sauce is outstanding. Staff was friendly and very attentive. Will def go back.
Awesome food. Was working a volleyball tournament at the convention center up the street and kept seeing their menu around so after work went and was very satisfied. I’m from out of town and from the south and was doubtful at first about barbque in Ohio but was very impressed. The sliced brisket was tender and there was plenty. The greens were just the right amount of heat and the mustard based potato salad was just right to cool it all down. Washed my meal down with a big cup of sweet tea that was almost as good as my moms. The place may not look that great but that’s what makes the food even better. I loved the paper towel rolls on the counter seating and being served great simple delicious food on a paper plate that’s divided and a plastic fork. The home made sauces were awesome as well. I will highly recommend this place for anyone I know who is going to Dayton.
Great Burger!. First time at Smokin BBQ and I will return. Got a burger sandwich and it was juicy and perfect all around. I almost asked if it was beef, now I’m not so sure if what I have been eating all my life really was beef it was that good.
Spent a few weeks on a job in Dayton and wanted BBQ as a salve for undue physical labor. The unnamed, old-Dayton joint recommended served a good Manhatten but not one strong enough to soften the tough ribs. Enter Smoking BBQ. Fall-off-the-bone ribs, smoke-ringed brisket and a crew who cares. My go- to.
Great BBQ – small place but great atmosphere
Small place BIG TASTE. They may not be high on frills, it may be a very small place – but their BBQ delivers! Mouth-watering BBQ! From their pulled pork, or BBQ brisket, to the beef tips – all very delicious with a very reasonable price.I’ve heard they are also open late-night weekend, along with the typical monday-friday.I’ve taken friends there and they love it too.
