Good food, small town feel and GREAT staff. This has become one of my favorite places to eat. My wife and I go almost every week. The portions are good sized, the bread is delicious, and the atmosphere is great. We always try and sit in the patio even in the winter. We are also Partial to Heather as our Waitress. After having her just once, she remembered us, and even remembered some of our conversation. Great service will almost always bring me back to a place, and Buns has service and good food.
I love the restaurant and the music and all the great wait staff and that it is a Delaware institution but there is nothing on their menu that I cannot be happier at home eating. They need a great tasting signature dish that makes me want to come back over and over.
…end of an era.. For those of us who remember Buns as a family diner known for it’s delicious baked goods and friendly country atmosphere, the Buns of today is totally lacking. Under new ownership, Buns now resembles so many other modern eateries complete with a new bar and patio. Once filled with light and noise, it’s become a dark and sedated atmosphere with inconsistent service and food quality. I’ve had better food from Speedway. I went back to Buns last year with my mother, and after eating lunch, we ventured to a couple of shops. Upon returning to our vehicle, we found the owner standing at her bumper. He nastily informed us that his parking lot was for Buns customers ONLY and pointed to a tow-away sign. We were flabberghasted, and told him that we had just eaten in his establishment, but that we would be sure NOT to park in his lot – ever again – let alone give him any more patronage.Shame on you, Buns. You should never make a guest feel unwelcome!
An old-time locally owned sit down restaurant and a great change from the chains. Food is decent, prices are okay and service depends on who you have waiting on you. Cheddar broccoli soup was good with the salad for lunch.
Needs more flavor!. The tomato soup is truly the best in the world…everything else tastes like hospital cafeteria food. Get a bowl of the soup with a deluxe grilled cheese or sandwich and you’ll be happy.
The gyro was great but it wasn’t there last time…I can say I was pretty disappointed about that, but still not bad.
