Delicious! Definitely one of the best sushi spots, if not the best, in the Columbus area. The rolls are really reasonably priced, super fresh, and the service is very friendly. We’ll be returning again and again.
Best mom and pop ever (4:30-6:30 happy hour) I literally got 8 rolls dank sushi 2 beers, and a glass of Pinot noir between me and my girlfriend for $38. The sushi was tasty and fresh. The chef was friendly, the service was awesome. The atmosphere had a classy feel and the server was very professional.
Finally, a sushi place we actually love. Ever since my wife and I moved back to Columbus from the Chicagoland area, we’ve been looking for a sushi restaurant to rival our favorite place there (Kansaku, in Evanston). After about 6 months of trying a new sushi restaurant about once a month, we finally tried Tokyo Sushi and found our place. Our typical measure of a good sushi place is based off of their seaweed salad and the specialty rolls they have. While we’ve tried a lot of other stuff at many restaurants, these are what we really find we love having when we go out for sushi. The seaweed salad is a generous portion, and is the first one that I’ve ever seen served with a ring of spicy mayo around it. I tried it, and found that with a little in each bite, I actually even liked the seaweed salad more than I usually do. My wife was sold on the salad after one bite, and she’s very picky too.As far as rolls go, we chose the Pink Lady (which we didn’t actually see on the menu, but asked the server about), the Star roll, and the Eel Special roll. All three were amazing, had a perfect balance of flavor and texture. We liked them so much, we even ordered a fourth roll (something we usually don’t do) since we were so excited. The New York roll also did not disappoint. All of these rolls were very nicely sized as well, as I find that many places these days try to go with larger rolls that really don’t seem to be in the spirit of sushi (as well as make it harder to balance flavor easily… and to eat too!).The service was excellent, though admittedly we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. The server seemed to know exactly when we’d need something, and didn’t bother us otherwise. They also timed the arrival of the sushi until after we were done with our salad, which was quite nice. And the best part is that we probably would have paid an additional $10-15 for the meal were we getting this back in Chicago. So we’re very pleased. All in all, we’re definitely going back. Maybe even next weekend.
Sushi is ok service is terrible. We used our Groupon and apparently that meant we got terrible service. The sushi was ok,,,,we eat sushi a great deal. I would think the service would be better for those using the Groupon…don’t they post those to bring people in? We had to ask many times to get a plate and when she finally did bring them it was as if we just asked for the moon. When the bill came there was a notice about tipping when using the Groupon. I am good with tipping on the full amount…when the service is terrible I don’t tip well. I wanted to let someone know about things but there was no one to be found (we were there over lunch….not busy at all). With so many great Sushi restaurants in Columbus we won’t be going back to Tokyo Sushi!!
Another great meal at Tokyo Sushi. Just had dinner at Tokyo Sushi. We try to dine there at least once a week. Jerry made us one of his wonderful dessertsfried bananas drizzled with chocolate surrounding cut fresh orange slices ….YummyWe also enjoy Jerry’s special appetizer……..tempura fish with spicy sauce surrounding green seaweed salad…wonderful14 Nov, 2011Great sushi, friendly service. We’ve been customers of Tokyo Sushi almost since its opening; so we’ve experienced the old and new ownership and chef. The fact that we continue to patronize this restaurant is the best indicator that we really like it. It’s great to have a quality sushi restaurant almost in your back yard.We love raw fish sushi but have also tried several chef’s specials and were always pleased with what we got. Service is extremely friendly even when the place is very busy; even in those cases waiting time has been very acceptable. And one really big thing is that it is BYOB, so, if you’re a wine or other alcoholic drinker, the bill will always be reasonable. We recommend this restaurant without any hesitation!
New fave: Star sushi roll. Not easy to find if you rely on GPS but it’s in the building beside other shops in its area in Powell. We went there after visiting the Columbus Zoo wildlights and our sushi dinner was delicious!I fell in love with the tempura sushi at an expensive Japanese restaurant in Old Henderson but now I’m smitten by the star sushi roll! 🙂
Best Little Sushi House in Powell. Some of the best sushi in Powell, and this is from a self-professed foodie who’s eaten sushi all over the world (Japan, New York, L.A., Argentina, Taiwan, Australia, and, most recently, St. Lucia). If you’re looking for good, fresh seafood, excellent service, and a pleasant atmosphere, then look no further. We had tuna tataki, dragon roll, and tiger roll. Everything was delicious! My stomach certainly didn’t complain 🙂 Be sure to give your compliments to the sushi chef Jerry.
