Promising menu, poor execution. I have eaten at Oscar’s twice, since posting the review about them serving fish that is not fresh, once for lunch and once for dinner. The salad I had for lunch sounded interesting on the menu but was very average and not well prepared. For dinner i had Duck and Mushroom Risotto, again, the description was very enticing, but the product was sub-par. There was sherry in the risotto, which I am not opposed to, but it is easy to get too much in a dish, and they did. The worst part was the saltiness. I couldn’t finish it. Would have been very tasty otherwise. Duck was tender. If you want over seasoned mediocre american food, I suggest you go to somewhere cheaper, like Applebees. Three strikes. I won’t go back. There are too many good restaurants around (right across the street)21 Feb, 2012Anything but fish. My husband and i ordered Ahi Tuna and Walleye. Both tasted fishy, not fresh. He ordered his tuna medium rare and it came barely seared. Everything else was great, I just don’t recommend the fish.
Great dining experience! Met here for dinner with friends and ate outside. Service was fantastic and our meals were even better. Will definitely return. Valet parking for $2 also a nice plus.
So much potential!. Let me say my first dining experience was extreme. Everyone in our party of 10 tasted all the different entrees we ordered. Veal, Tilapia and Walleye were spot on. Tastiest walleye and tilapia preparations I’ve ever had anywhere!!!! Delicious and fresh house salad with a lovely and just the right amount dressing. Water and drink refills were very slow but food was served very timely. Overall service was good. Hostess was upbeat and friendly. Keep her! Biggest gripe about restaurants today. Spend all that money building your place and then hire a snotty buzzkill to ruin your customers whole take on your place right from the start. Back to the food, Bbq Ribs were aweful! Charred til they were hard, not the crispy melt in your mouth texture we long for. Calamari had a beautiful presentation but was inedible. It was so tough and hard that after repeated chewing, my son and I gave up and spit them out. Did we complain about 2 rib dinners and the calamari appetizer? No. I have 35 years in the restaurant industry. I don’t send food back. Ever. Yes I will return to Oscars for the fish and veal as they were so outstanding!!!
Just awful. Steak way over cooked. Service slow, no one checking water etc… doesn’t come close to others.
Poor service. Food was great as usual but our service was not of the same calibre. No one refilling wine glasses, or checking on our progress. Food was extremely slow coming out of the kitchen. It seemed like our server needed orientation as to how to service tables. She seemed lost.
Server Dress. No complaints about the food at Oscars. Someone at our table will always get the walleye and go home happy. Why would a white linen tablecloth restaurant have the female servers wear shorts? And short shorts at that.
