Bill.is the best.the wife not so much.since the kids are in college the service has gone downhill. the buffet should be outlawed.the owner never puts more than the minimum out when there is no sauce high heat and she does not care if the food is stuck to the containers she does not care about anything but the dollar.bill . bill cares she does not want to be there.do not beleive .me look in the containers at the five pieces of general chicken
The best Americanized Chinese Food. Bill Hwang has been around since I’ve been little. It’s been a favorite of my family’s for years. My one suggestion is to order off the menu instead of the buffet. You get way more than you can eat and it’s always hot and fresh. By far they have the best lo mein I’ve ever had. I’m writing this review becasue I think it got an unfair one from another user. I’ve never once been disappointed there in my whole 15+ years I’ve been going there. Take into consideration if you order off the buffet, who knows how long it’s been there so of course it could be dry etc, that’s why I said order off the menu, you won’t be sorry!
Oh and then to make it worse right after I wrote my first review I called to complain and the rude woman behind the register hung up on me.14 Jul, 2012Worst crap ever. Nothing tastes like it supposed to. Generals is not spicy at all the sauce is watered down chicken is dry and the egg rolls are full of crushed pepper and dry. It was like crap in a box. Smelled good on the drive home. But when I opened it not so much. I would never order here again and I hope everyone who reads this thinks twice about it before the order.
Cheap Eats -Sit Down, Be Served. Bill Hwang’s is a casual, inexpensive, sit down Chinese restaurant on busy Canton. Rd in Akron. The place was clean, and decently decorated. They have several buffet stations which is filled for both lunch ($5.98) and dinner ($7.98). Their buffet selection is plentiful and their food was tasty. They had a relatively good salad bar, at least 15 types of entrees, four types of soups, and 8 types of desserts (with fresh Watermelon and other fruit). In addition to their buffet, they also have a full menu with a full page of lunch specials, and daily specials ($4.95). The next time I visit Bill Hwang’s, I am going to order off the menu because while the food on the buffet was tasty, a few of them looked dry sitting on the warming table. Our server was friendly and efficient. She cleared our plates regularly and kept our glasses filled.I believe Bill’s to be a decent and inexpensive place to go if you want some sit-down, served cheap eats.PS: They do not take credit cards, only cash.
Wow, Surprisingly Good!. I normally don’t go for the buffet-type dining experience; and although Chinese Food is among my top favorites, I enjoy Chinese Buffets even less. However, I must say that my lunch today at Bill Hwang’s proved to be very quite the exception to that general rule. It could be that, from my impression of the restaurant, it combines both experiences: regular dining and lunch-style buffet. Whatever the reason, the food was delightfully flavorful, varied, and very satisfying. It is, in fact, the highest quality Chinese buffet food I’ve encountered, and for the quality, the price is surprisingly affordable. I tried most of the chicken, beef and pork dishes being served. The proteins were tender and well cooked, and the sauces were appropriately seasoned, and as stated, very tasty. The chicken in the Moo Goo Gai Pan dish, I believe it was, was particularly tender and juicy. Then came the highlight of my meal, a crown jewel I least expected to find in the dessert section of any buffet: the chocolate cake. How is it possible that it was so chocolatey, moist and delicious? I’m not quite sure, but I do know that today, I became a chocolate lover all over again. I also enjoyed a very lovely bowl of cookies and ice cream, and some tasty cream-filled pastry bites. Did I mention the great selection of premium ice creams they have included with the lunch buffet? As for the dining room, it is very well maintained and clean, with an appealing decor, seating arrangement, and nice dinner lighting. Service is friendly, kindhearted and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this fine chinese restaurant to anyone, especially if you are looking for a valuable meal and experience for an exceptional price. It was that good!
