My girlfriend and parents and I went here for a Sunday lunch/dinner.The menu had more than one thing we each seemed interested in, which was a good sign. The interior is very nice and well-kept, and has some character. The service was a little slower than expected but not awful. Our meals were served not too long after we ordered, though the server never did bring us the bread she said she would. It even appeared on the receipt (no charge), so that was a little odd. The stroganoff I had was excellent, albeit a little salty, and could have used maybe a few more noodles (or that bread to mop up the sauce!). Still, the sauce was very flavorful, the meat was very tender, and I’d order it again. All told we had a positive experience and, pre-tip, got out of there for $55 for the four of us. I will need a slight snack later but nothing heavy. We’d go back, which is probably the best thing that can be said for a restaurant.
On our three year anniversary my husband and I went here expecting really great food and service. The atmosphere was nice but the service lacked and the food was bland and my pork was burnt. Big selection of wine and alcohol. Menu was sparse and expensive. $40 for two tiny entrees and I left still hungry. It was very disappointing. The staff seemed condescending and judgemental. We had been at the zoo all day and had shorts and nice shirts on but they made it seem like we were homeless people. We will not be returning.
Outstanding in every way!. Over the top! Food is criminal, almost ate the dishes it was so good. Every single aspect about the place was a home run. My wife and youngest daughter and I sat up at the chefs table and had an outstanding server named Tessie take care of us all night. The brussel sprouts were fantastic. The scallops and risotto over the top and the stroganoff I could eat for a week straight. Huge wide but thin egg noodles, beef so tender it melted in my mouth and a sauce that didn’t stand a chance against the loaf of hot bread right out of the oven…The chef and the rest of the kitchen work their tails off, everyone chips in and does a little bit of everything. No stress. And they even made a little time to win over my daughter, no easy task. The creme brulee and the strudel…ridiculous. Seems like a family in there. Even the bartender, with whom we had no contact all night, wished us a great evening on the way out. Everything about that place is a class act.
My girlfriend and I went to the standard for the first time tonight and were impressed. Happy hours 1/2 off apps and ability to order 1/2 size entrees made it possible to try many things. Wait staff was friendly and attentive with genuine, easy going conversation. Would recommend this place and I will return. They also have a chefs table. James makes a stellar manhattan kudos to him.
Overpriced for the quality. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, but the dishes were way too overpriced for the quality. Everything I tried lacked seasoning and presentation for the price. However, I am very excited to see E185th street begin growing into a dining destination on the east side.
Great Experience!. Sat at the bar early on a Saturday night. Interesting cocktail choices, happy hour runs on Saturday night which is pretty unusual, lots of happy hour food choices – especially shaved brussel sprouts and the Slovenien sausage. Mac and chees and mussel entries were wonderful. Only gripe; Gloria, our server, wouldn’t accept my Walmart gift card! 🙂 Had fun and will be back (all the way from Avon).
Sub-Standard restaurant. With only two tables seated, it took over a half hour to get our food. Portions are small. This restaurant doesn’t have mustard or steak sauce. Rename the restaurant from Standard to Sub-standard and your spot on.
