Whenever my husband and I want a fantastic burger we go to flipdaddys! Always great service and delicious burgers. We also enjoy the tap rotations and have found some great brews there too!
I had been avoiding Flipdaddy’s for a long time due to the high price of a burger there plus the very polarized set of comments I had received about the place. Everyone I spoke to seemed to either hate it or love it. That said, I went to Flipdaddy’s during Cincinnati Burger Week 2015 because, well, burger for 5 bucks. I could check it out for myself for a few bucks less than usual, and if I was one of the haters, I was only out 5 bucks. First impression on entry is that this place is very much a sports bar that happens to serve food rather than the other way around. Very loud even on a weekday night without a major sporting event underway. Not a place I would recommend for families with young kids.Second impression was after I reviewed my options for burger week was that I was not going to get off as cheaply as I had hoped. On any burger I order, I want 2 slices of cheese and grilled onions. At a lot of places, you get 2 slices of cheese on a cheeseburger, and grilled onions are free. Not so at Flipdaddy’s – each slice of cheese is a dollar and grilled onions are also a dollar. In fact, it was obvious that the menu was designed to rake in a lot of money on extras one could add to one’s burger. The end result was that my hoped-for 5 dollar basic cheeseburger was an 8 dollar basic cheeseburger. The lone consolation here is that the burger includes a choice of side, and given the choice of fries or saratoga chips I went with the chips. It is noteworthy that in the spirit of add-on charges, you have option to improve your side, things like salad, onion rings, etc – all at additional cost.I ordered my burger medium rare, and although it took a lot longer than I had expected for a less than half full dining space, I have to give them credit where credit is due – it came out a perfect medium rare. In my experience, a lot of burger joints will say they’ll cook a burger to order, but you end up with well or medium well regardless. Not so here. so far so good.Anyone who expects a giant pub style burger may be disappointed with the burger here, but to me, this was just the right size. I didn’t ask, but I’d guess this was a 6 to 7 ounce burger. It had a bit of char on the outside and was very juicy inside, so much so that I had to lean forward over the plate. It did lack seasoning, so I had to add a bit of salt and pepper. The cheese and grilled onions were decently good, but for 3 dollars extra, I expected better The saratoga chips were served with a tiny metal ramekin of bbq sauce. With saratoga chips, I expect a mix of chewy and crunchy, but these were all crunch. The bbq sauce seemed institutional, but worked well with these chips.Service was OK, very informal. There is ample parking in the shared strip-center lot this eatery is located inAll in all, this was a very good burger that I’d probably order again again if it didn’t cost 11.99, which was the regular menu price for the burger as I configured it.
Thomas Jones. Nothing like a good burger and beers with the boys
Not impressed. My friend and I tried it for the first time. We both ate burgers and fries. My burger had an interesting topping with a good taste, chimichurri. But the burgers were completely dry. I have never been disappointed in a burger, anywhere but was that day. Fries were not that great either. Reminded me of Burger Kings old fries.
Love this place. I do not drink beer or any alcohol.. I have tried the onion rings, bruschetta, mac & cheese, quesadilla’s, and a few other items. They were all delicious. Fattening for sure. But moderation is the key!!! Love Flip Daddy’s. Just wish I didn’t have to drive an hour to get to one!! I go to the one in Cincinnati!!
Nope, Not a Good Night!. Gotta say, we visit Mariemont restaurant on a regular basis. Tonight was bad, really bad. Both my daughter and I ordered sandwiches and salads as our side. When the food runner brought our sandwiches, there was no salad in sight. When our server got to checking on us, we were done with our sandwiches, and I pointed out that we were missing 1/2 of our meal. She offered to bring the salad, but I refused..I eat salads before my meal, not after. So she told me she would box up my salad – not acceptable, salads are nasty the next day. An assistant manager (?) comes out to tell me that I’m not being charged for the salad–wow, that’s nice, because I wouldn’t have paid it if I was charged for non-existent food. I left hungry and pissed off at myself for not ordering the fries. At least I would have felt like I had a full meal. I am not one who looks for free food, but for Christ’s sake, to pay 8.99 and 9.99 for two sandwiches with no sides is a crock of crap and not the best value for my money. We visit once or twice a month since you’ve opened, and I am questioning whether or not I will return.—1/8 – I would like to add to my review. In addition to this review, I also copied/pasted my review and submitted it to Flipdaddy’s website. I was contacted by email and received a very sincere apology along with the offer to give them another chance. This apology and gesture shows me that they do care about their guests, and I will give them a second chance.
Service is excellent. Had the whiskey bacon one and the pizzan one. Both were really good.
