My family and I are quite fond of the local mini-chain Mio’s Pizza, particularly the Mt Washington location that was near where we lived for several years. We now frequent the Anderson location on 5 Mile as it is closer to where we now live, but we have found the food and service to be pretty much the same at every Mio’s in town, and so I am posting this same review for each of the half-dozen so locationsThe family favorite is the thin crusted pizza, which has a very nice chew to it and not a lot of rise. The sauce is very good, so good that I recommend ordering extra sauce on your pie. I typically am not a fan of a plain cheese pizza but here the basics are so good that i really enjoy it this way. My favorite combinations of toppings are the roasted red peppers with sausage or the bacon and onion. Their meatball sandwich isn’t very good, but they do make a pretty good steak hoagie, and offer it in two different sizes and also do both the pizza sauce and brown gravy styles, both of which I recommend without reserve.The thing that differentiates Mios in my eyes from most other local pizza joints in the stuffed pizza, which is a very authentic rendition of this style as it is served in pizzerias around Chicago. Stuffed pizza looks on serving a LOT like a deep dish pizza, but in truth it is a variation on deep dish, with the main difference being that there is a second layer of crust laid over top the cheese and toppings which is then baked, and the sauce is added atop the double crusted pie. I really, really like Mio’s stuffed pie, and have been told by co-workers hailing from Chicago that it is on par with Giordano’s in Chicago. All that said, be forewarned that this is a very heavy pizza, and even one slice will fill up an average eater.Mio’s calzone is not one I can recommend because it does not include ricotta, but if you prefer no ricotta, you might like this one.The menu has a pretty good variety of other basic italian/pizzeria pastas, sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts, but for the best experience here, stick to the pizzas

GREAT GREAT GREAT FOOD! I highly recommend their buffalo chicken pizza or their Virginia BBQ pizza. I have been there multiple times and always get EXCELLENT service. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to eat
Great Place. My husband and I go to Mio’s in Mount Washington at least once per week. The staff is very friendly and they know we don’t need menus. The chef special pizza is wonderful as is the deluxe calzone. Their pastas are very good. Great place to go.

Very good-to-great. Mios has been one of our favorite places for pizza in Mt Washington for a long time and will remain so for a long time. Very good pizza, for sure.
Good, but could be even better if…. They would dim the lights a little to get a little more of a romantic Italian pizzeria mood. I know candles may be a little dangerous, but some of those dripping candle’s in old Chianti bottles would rock. Great draught beer selection for a local pizza joint. The Garlic crust and Basil Cheese are our fav’s. Staff has always been pleasant.
