Not sure what this restaurant is trying to be. I count my trip to New Europe as one of my more bizarre excursions in the culinary world. It strikes you as soon as you walk in that this isn’t a restaurant that very many people go to. When we went, there only one other group there and they seemed like they were family/friends with the staff.It was dark and the waitress spoke broken English. The menu was a mix of Eastern European and mediterranean cuisine. We awkwardly ordered a few items off the menu and all of them turned out to be bad.This is one of those places that as soon as you walk in, it’s awkward and you want to leave. It seemed like the staff wasn’t expecting American customers (despite being in the middle of suburbia, midwest America…), and so they weren’t really sure how to interact with us. Perhaps there is a larger population of Eastern Europeans in the area than I was aware of, and that is who their customer base is comprised of.Oddly enough, on the weekend nights, large crowds of younger looking people can be seen around the restaurant. Perhaps it turns into a nightclub for Eastern European youth? I may never know. This place remains a mystery to me.
