Tip. Very disappointing and embarrassing when the waiter comes out and questions your tip. He announced our total bill amount and tip amount in front of our dinner guests. I thought tips were optional and up to the diner. Very inappropriate.
Not worth it.. This place used to be great. Service was great etc. Went in on a Friday night. Sushi took over 2 hours for 2 people. Wasn’t good and way over priced. Should’ve known better for the west side. Coukdve drove down town, paid less and had better sushi in the time I wasted there. Now I’ll remember for next time.
Great place to eat. This place was really good, the location is a little odd but the food was good and the drinks were great and our server jorge was alot of fun… i had the steak which was done just right and very tender with alot of flavor, my friend had the chicken which looked really really good and the sushi was off the chain…. check it out — i cant belive its on the west side of town… seems more like a place you would see in hyde park or the eastside…
Great sushi & Japanese style hibachi. So glad there’s something like this on the west side!
This is basically a cheap version of Benihana’s.. It may be cheaper but it’s just as delicious! So if you love the Benihana’s and that style of food just a Lil cheaper this is the place to go!!
Westside-Style Japanese. So, first let’s talk location. This restaurant was hard to find because I couldn’t fathom that a Japanese Steakhouse would be in the building connected the a sleazy hotel, with Pappy’s bar jammin’ away next door. I soon discovered that Pappy’s isn’t next door, it’s really an extension of this restaurant. We went on a Saturday night and there was LOUD live music and drunk, middle-aged folks cutting loose on the dance floor. Not exactly my scene, but good for people watching, pointing and laughing. The food was lackluster. My husband ordered teriyaki steak which had pretty much no flavor. I warned him that teriyaki was a bad idea, but he insisted on depriving himself of flavor and ordering this dish. I had the hot & spicy chicken, which, much to my dismay was teriyaki chicken with some chili sauce mixed in. Damn. Again, not very flavorful and it really didn’t taste remotely Japanese-inspired. The sake was decent but I thought the prices were uncalled-for. Westside living tends to be a bit cheaper, which is what I expected of this place, but I was wrong. Also, they don’t have hibachi calamari, which is one of my all-time favorite dishes (thank you, Fuji House-Hyde Park). Overall, I was not impressed. Venture away from your homeland, Westsiders, and find better hibachi grills in The East.
