  Stale cake. We just got a birthday cake a couple of weeks ago. I think they may keep the cakes in the freezer too long. I must add though that we didn’t order it until 2 days before? It tasted stale and it was dried out. The icing is always wonderful though! The donuts are great–especially the fried danish!

  Gives good cake, donuts, danish. I’m in my 30s and grew up having a Harrison Home Bakery cake for all of my childhood birthdays. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I can’t get enough of the cakes and cupcakes. The standard vanilla cake has a good texture and the icing is amazing. The decorations are very traditional in the style of stiff buttercream flowers and borders, so please don’t ask for a fondant. The glazed yeast donuts are both gigantic and addicting, and the danish pastries are divine. Yes, the staff tends to be quite rude, but since the baked goods are so delish, I keep coming back anyway. There’s not a grumpy bakery lady in the world who can come between me and my all-time favorite cake.

  I ordered a sheet cake for my daughter’s Birthday Party it was adorable. It is exactly what I requested and the art in the icing was beautiful.However, the cake was terribly, terribly, dry and the flavor was horrible. The children at the table were telling me that it wasn’t very good and they didn’t want to eat it. Needless to say there was a lot of cake in the trash and a whole lot left over because the adults didn’t want to even try it after hearing the negativity. I haven’t purchased a cake from Harrison Bakery before and I was excited to get a Birthday Cake other than from Kroger Bakery but after this experience I’ll be going back to Kroger’s.
