Green Papaya is one of the only Thai restaurants I will go to because the food isn’t comparable to anything else. I love how their pad thai is on the sweet side and I’ve grown to like it so much over the years that I won’t get pad thai anywhere else because I’m always disappointed. Their sushi is also great although I’m not the biggest sushi fan. The green papaya roll is a fan favorite. You can also order a boat of sushi which comes out in an actual boat. The only thing I’m not always a fan of is the prices, but for the quality I can’t exactly complain.

This restaurant used to be my go to, eat-in, sushi place as we live in neighborhood and frequently visited, however, after my carry-out experience, I will never patronize this place again.! The nigiri was old, grayish and smelly. The sushi rolls minuscule and containing little if no fish. As the first order of the evening, 5:00 pm, it was not as if they were running out of fish, simply cheating a carry-out customer. At $30+ dollars, a real rip off for 1 piece of nigiri and the 2 small, sub-par, fish-less rolls. My big mistake was not checking the order by opening the styrofoam box prior to paying and leaving. I contacted the restaurant by phone, came back in person, and finally received a call from the manager who was not willing to do anything to retain a loyal customer. The WORST sushi and the very WORST customer service ever. Thanks Kim. I will warn everyone of their poor performance in both food and customer service!
Top Notch Sushi. I’ve only been here once. To be honest, I typically frequent places like Cloud Nine because I’m a sucker for half-price sushi. When I want REALLY good sushi, this is the only place to go. Everything is very fresh and the flavors really pop. Average sushi can be covered up with spicy mayo, but Green Papaya practices restraint and focuses on letting the quality of their ingredients shine.
Watch the Numbers. Last night the food was tasty and the service very friendly. BEWARE of the improvisational mathematics applied on their (handwritten) checks. The first bill was nearly double what it should have been and second was still not correct. Always check to make sure that the prices on the check actually match the menu’s, that the sales tax is computed correctly, and that all of the numbers add up correctly. It is my strong opinion that GP should invest in a point of sale computer system so that any doubts about $ will be absent from an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.
Great food and great service. The best pad thai in Cincy – hands down! And if you’re looking for sushi, go for the green papaya roll. It’s absolutely delicious! Wonderful, super professional and polite servers. I love this place, but keep in mind that the portions are on the small side. Order generously and enjoy some of the best thai and sushi in Cincy.
