I should have written this so long ago and never got around to it till today, The first restaurant when we moved to Dayton was Mama Disalvol’s my first dining experience was great, small restaurant with a small home town local grow experience, this has never changed with every visit.Highly recommended
A draft for your senses. After dining on spaghetti I took a look at the specialty dishes chose the rigatoni and tasted elegance on a platter mama disalvos is a Dayton city gem of the old country I highly recommend this restarant for couples wanting to get the Italian experience
Went here for dinner with my family. Our server, Andy, was awesome! Everything we ordered was delicious: bruschetta appetizer, salads, and a range of pastas from carbonara to pesto to vodka sauce. Mama’s sauce is also very good. I’m from New Jersey and we have a ton of authentic Italian Restaurants. Mama Disalvo’s was on par with the best.
Excellent Italian. This is some of the best Italian food I’ve had. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was equally what you hope for from this kind of dining experience. I frequently order ravioli as my first meal in a new Italian restaurant. I find it a good measuring stick plus it’s not too hard to screw up so I know I’ll at least get a palatable meal. It was clear that everything I was served from the ravioli to the sauce to the salad dressing was made fresh in the kitchen. If you live in the area, I highly recommend this place.
Their house dressing is the best dressing I have ever had. It tastes heavenly. I am a fan of the cheese ravioli, chicken Parmesan, or plain old spaghetti and meatballs. The bread they serve is warm, fresh, and buttery. This place is truly amazing, but good luck getting a parking spot!
Bad Choice…… The food is mediocre at best. I had their pesto linguine. It came out warm and bland. My husband’s had a little bit better luck, he had some sort of shrimp dish which came out nice and hot and it actually tasted flavorful. I give them props for actually using JUMBO shrimp when they advertise it in their menu. Their complimentary bread was cold and greasy. As far as the service goes, our waitress was extremely unattentive and lacked personal skills. We actually received more attention from a waiter from a completely different section. We ended up giving him more of a tip at the end of the night than our own waitress. Last but not least, the food is over priced. I can’t bring myself to pay $18+ per plate for subpar food and service. Enter at your own risk.
Are you kidding me???. My fiance’ and I went to dinner here for the first time and it will absolutely be my last. Let me first say, that I have travelled the world and had the finest Italian cuisine there is. Many of my favorites are the neighborhood family style gems most overlook. Not to mention my 5th gen Italian Godfather taught me how to cook. I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and never experienced anything like this before. We ordered a $40 bottle of red wine blend, enjoyed our salads and anticipated a fantastic dinner. That isnt’ what happened. I ordered lasagana and got more than what I bargained for. I took my first bite and it was delicious. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th bites all had black burnt charcoal that was coming from under the cheese on the top layer. Reluctantly, I share this with my server who took my plate to the owner. She came back several minutes later and told me that it wasn’t burnt and that it’s the way lasagna was made. You could see the chunks on my plate but aparently that wasn’t enough evidence and gave me back my dish that was now cold. Now I was expected to finish my dinner looking at burnt chunks, hoping to not find another, and eat a cold meal. I wasn’t offered a replacement and was made to feel like I didn’t know how lasagana was supposed to taste or be made. No effort was made to make this right, and furthermore the unwillingness or desire to accomodate us in any way was offensive. WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK!!!
