Ladies and gents, LuLu’s Dinner has been hit or miss since their conception in 2010. I give them great adoration for putting such effort into this family owned and operated eatery however, quantity should never be over quality. Yes, it’s decently priced and they serve large portions but the food quality is inconsistent. I love eggs Benedict and on occasion, Lulu’s can pull off the hollandaise. Other occasions, it is broken or congealed. Things are often slightly warm instead of hot but overall, good effort. I say try it and hope for the best. You may or may not get it.
I understand what they are trying to do as in a different menu for the area but they have been consistently trying to run before they learn to crawl. 2 years ago I tried them out and ordered their corned beef hash with poached eggs. I believe the eggs were poached but so over cooked it was just as well boiled eggs out of the shell! I politely asked for new eggs and the waitress had no idea why I didn’t want the poached eggs… They were cooked in water she said . But she brought me the new poached eggs and they were… The same! disappointed I said they were fine as not to be that guy again ,anyway my hash was cold and my company had finished their meals by then not very impressed either. So this past weekend I gave them another try . Walk in with no greeting and not sure to seat ourselves or just stand there awkwardly as the wait staff kind of looks at us but no one wants to take the time to say hello or we will be with you shortly . Finally I ask a waitress and she seats us .we seemed like we were a bother from the moment we walked in to the time we paid our check. I wasn’t trusting enough to try the poached again so I threw them a underhand pitch and ordered a standard breakfast eggs over easy home fries bacon and pancakes. My wife ordered the same minus the pancakes. My dish came out ok cooked ok but everything was room temp especially the potatoes along with being bland. My wife’s on the other hand . They served her plate incomplete the potatoes were on their way out. Flimsy almost raw looking bacon and super undercooked eggs. After she and I had finished our meal her unflavored half cooked potatoes arrived. As a Chef I would never serve an incomplete plate and this standard of food. I hate to write this but I recommend to stay away from this place. It is not worth the naive crowd and rude service to eat a mediocre breakfast. So where should you go to eat breakfast in Lima ? Honestly there is no good recommendation . I’d say maybe .. I hate to say this also because I absolutely love to support local…. Go to Cracker Barrel and order a simple breakfast with no garnish… Why no garnish? Who likes orange flavored eggs?

Great home town diner. Banana Waffle…. need I say more? Ok, how bout an amazing chicken salad, fantastic burger, and the best breakfast around? Check them out…. you can’t go wrong.
