Upscale addition to Lima restaurants. Ever since Main Street Bistro ceased operations a few years ago, I have dreaded going out to dinner when visiting Lima, both because of the lack of atmosphere in most of the other restaurants and generally mediocre food options. OCP is a refreshing addition to Lima dining with candle lit rooms, a vibrant bar, lots of dark rich wood, and a very attractive main dining room (high backed booths are particularly nice). The food is excellent, both on the seafood and steak sides of the menu. Lobster bisque was particularly good as was the Chilean sea bass and Mac and cheese side. Steaks were cooked to order and quality cuts. Wine list was broad with lots of choices in the lower and mid price range. This was nice to see since it made up for the somewhat pricier than necessary main courses. The prices on the mains is the only negative to OCP that I can see. They should be about 5 to 10 less than the current prices. The night that we visited, there was a lounge act upstairs, which was great for after dinner, but even better was that you couldn’t hear it from the dining room so there was no distraction. While our server was a tad inexperienced, she was very attentive and got assistance when unsure about questions regarding the wine list. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back. Place was full with diners when we visited, most even a bit dressed up, so I hope it can continue to draw patrons after the holidays are over. Lima needs a place like this!!!

Made reservations for four and asked at that time could we split dinners. Was told not a problem. Arrived and ordered drinks and appetizers. When ready to order entrees asked to split and was told there was a $10 splitting fee. Thought this a little excessive but reluctantly agreed. Ordered a bottle of wine and when entrees arrived we were given an additional plate and that was it. For $10 we were juggling to divide a salad and cutting prime rib.ordered dessert and speciality coffee. Did no other split except for entree. Can’t say food was not passable but felt that splitting an entree when your bill still comes to over $150 their $10 charge was excessive. I got a simple extra plate and did all the splitting awkwardly at the table. Two people paid $150 to be treated like c ngpeapskates. I won’t be back.

Great Potential…but….. Let me start this with the caveat that I was there on the night after Thanksgiving with a party of eight, so a couple extra difficulties to be considered. Lima, Ohio has been a culinary desert for longer than I like to admit. I have great hope for this place and I like what they are trying to do, but they need someone experienced to come in and manage the front end of the restaurant, because the service is bad. We were seated promptly at 7:00 and it took 3 hrs to complete the meal. For fine dining, this is not that bad, but long stretches of time between visits from our waiter, made for the experience to drag much longer than it should have. The kid who was serving, struggled with the wine cork, breaking the cork. My wife suggested he go get another bottle, but he ignored her. I wanted to teach the kid on how to open a bottle of wine, but my wife said I could not do that to him. Upon the arrival of the salads, they got all messed up, and a lot of trading occurred in and effort to get everyone what they had requested. The salads were good with a great bacon based dressing. The main course was a mixed bag, with the fish dishes coming out properly prepared and hot. The steaks were another story, arriving pretty much over cooked and only warm, apparently sitting too long before delivery. The desserts were very good, but those who requested coffee were surprised. I requested an expresso, but is arrived warm. You MUST heat the cup with steam prior to serving! Also it was weird that all coffees were served without a saucer. I expect this at a diner, but not fine dining. These are prices are New York prices, and that is ok if the service is there to support. The restaurant has not been open long, and I hope this is just a startup issue. The problems all revolve about service, which is a management training issue and needs to be resolved. I will return, and update my review, because I really want this place to be successful. This should be the finest restaurant in the area, but right now it is not.
