Fantastic Mother-Daughter Afternoon Tea. We LOVED the ambiance, food and service at Cambridge Tea House. The food was truly exquisite and could do this again and again. My daugher is 8 and doesn’t eat much, so they made an Afternoon Tea selection for us to share, and added her own teapot. The service was elegant, and the hostess added a princess crown stamp to my daughter’s setting. I absolutely recommend this if you’re in Columbus for the afternoon or if you live nearby.
2 and half hours for a ham sandwich. The Saturday before Mother’s Day I had reservations for noon for my mother, sister, and husband. We arrived right at noon and there is no one to greet us or to acknowledge our reservation. The waitresses are too busy to acknowledge guests. Customers are coming in from both sides of the restaurant so they have no idea who came first. There were 2 parties without reservations seated before us. I asked one of the waitresses if we could use one of the unoccupied chairs for my 88 year old mother and she just smiled and walked away. I finally dragged a chair over for her myself. They finally seated us 30 minutes after our reservation. We came for the High Tea. They were all out. I order the Welsh Rarebit. They were all out. I ordered scones. They were all out. Mind you, this is 12:30 p.m. on the day before Mother’s Day. This a Tea House with no scones and no High Tea. We all ordered a side of the carrot salad. It had clearly been sitting for hours in the refrigerator because the dressing had sunk to the bottom of the bowl. We all order the chocolate mousse. It was solid like ice cream. It had been overly chilled. Service was SLOW. Overall very disappointing. I won’t be returning ever.
Sunday Brunch Disaster. My husband and I had a terrible experience at Sunday brunch and ended up walking out without eating. We were sick of waiting and of the disingenuous excuses made by the inattentive waitress. If there is a problem in the kitchen or if the waitress has forgotten to put in an order then it would be preferable to have that explained to the customer, not to blame the half an hour wait on the time it takes to grill a cheese sandwich! The tea house seems to have aspirations of class & refinement not matched but the attitude of the wait staff.
Disappointed too. I visited there my first time and there was no place to sit, kind of ignored. They had run out of food, only thing that had was a apple turnover and it was just after 1:pm
Horrible Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I typically only will give a review if it’s positive but with negative after negative experiences at the Cambridge Tea House I feel I have no choice but to share. Let me start off by saying the ingredients the chef uses are simply phenomenal! If the attention to detail, effort and time in the back of the house also reflected the front of the house then this may have very well made my favorites list. However with such poor, inconsiderate and slow service in the front of the house I cannot recommend the Cambridge Tea House to anyone! I do not give this review lightly as I have dined at the Cambridge Tea House over 10 times. With each visit giving them a chance to make up for their prior disgraces, each time hoping they will make anew, but each time I am continually let down more and more and have finally hit my limit! I will be saddened to not taste their lemony tuna sandwich again but NOTHING is worth dealing with the service in the front of the house, NOTHING!!!! 🙁
A true blessing to have in our neighborhood. Never fails to delight!14 Aug, 2012This place is one of (scratch that) best restaurant I know. The candle light dinners, WOW! Oh yes the music they play is a great mix.
Dissatified Customer. Attended Mother’s day tea ths year with my sisters, mother, neices and nephew. Was very disappointed with the menu selection for mothers day. In additon the food was not cooked very well. The service was the worst that I have ever received at any of the numerous tea houses that I have been to. The tea selection paled to other houses. Our large group took up half of the place and they treated us like individual tables instead of a group. There was no jelly, clotted cream served with the scones. We had to chase down the waitress to have sugar and honey for our tea. In most houses they will ask you as you order. No saucers were provided with the tea cups resulting in tea being spilt on the table. I would not recommend or visit this establishment again.
