Great flavor’s. This was the first visit to the Phoencian Taverna but it wont be our last. We visited on a very busy Friday night but even though every table was full they service was fast and we didnt wait for anything. I was joined by one of my Lebanese friends who said that eveything was very authentic and tasted like his families home cooking. We had a mixture of cold mezza to share between the 6 of us and then the shawarma for our main dish, everything was very tasty and at times a little salty, but not too much to make it unpleasant. The food and drinks were all very reasonably priced, especially the wine, I wish more places would not over charge for their alcohol. I really liked the decor and the bar area, like I said we will be back for more
Lunch at the taverna. Today 2/6/2015 had wonderful lunch at the Phoenician Tavern, always great. Having been trained to cook Lebanese from a fantastic Lebanese cook, many years ago, this is the best, tastes just like the real thing. Finest ingredients always fresh. Way beyond average. Just wish I didn’t live over an hour away. Highly recommend if you like Greek & Lebanese food go and enjoy.
Amazing food, spotty service. I eat at Phoenician Taverna about once a month and the food is outstanding! I have ordered several different items off of the menu, and have loved almost all of them. The pumpkin kibbeh, hummus, falafel, pita, shawarma, etc. are all the best in town. I didn’t particularly care for the flat bread I tried with lamb and beef, but I think that is a personal taste issue. Their vegetarian lunch special is probably the best lunch available in Cincinnati. Most of the time the service is good, and sometimes great, but it all depends on your server and timing. I tried to hold a work lunch there with about a dozen people and the service was so off that some of us were getting served well after others had finished their meals. I also went with my family and experienced a similar event, where the waiter put in the wrong item for my order. When I asked him to correct it, he said he would but then disappeared from the dining room. After 20 minutes, the rest of my family had finished and I still didn’t have my dish. I complained and the owner comp’ed my food, but I was an unhappy customer.Phoenician Taverna, please work on making all of your service up to par with your delicious food and work on having a stronger lunch service that would allow local businessmen and women (and there are many) to frequent your restaurant during the lunch hour.
Loved it. Great place. smaller dining room but wonderful food. Tried some traditional dishes and they were great.
Worst Mediterranean Food Ever!. My husband and I had dinner here on Friday June 6th after a coworker recommended this place to me. He raved about his experience here so much that I had to try it out for myself. Boy, was I mad that I did. We ordered the hummus and the baba ghanouj and both were extremely salty. I ordered the Fatteh Bel with chicken and my husband ordered the Mashawi with chicken. Both of our chicken was boiled, with no flavor whatsoever. In both our cases, it seemed like they had tried to hide the fact that the chicken and the dish itself had no flavor by either putting yogourt sauce on top OR providing it on the side. We even asked for hot sauce (they gave us harissa which we were thrilled about) and that didn’t help either. To provide context, we have had Mediterranean/Lebanese food dozens of times and even had it in the middle east and the food here does not come close to comparing to even the North American Lebanese food we’ve had.
Delicious food but. 5/5 for food despite awkward conversation with who appeared to be manager. Couldn’t understand half of what she was saying but she appeared to be inquiring if we had a ‘reservation’. Felt like saying where’s the valet parking?
