The service was great. Rose took really good care of us. The scallop appetizer was overcooked. The duck came out more rare than med -med rare and the sauce was too sweet with no acidity. the lobster ravioli was overpowered by a thick creamy sauce and the risotto tasted like cream. The grouper was ok. I seems like they are trying to be gourmet but fall a great distance short. The clam special was good, though. It’s broth was perfectly seasoned and not overpowering. I hear the lunch is good and will probably give that a try.
Steak advertised as Angus, but was actually of shoe leather quality, price of $29 and was not even as good as a Mac Donald’s burger, my mother had flat bread margarita and could not even chew the flat bread, waitress was nice it wasn’t her fault. Cook offered a free desert because I told him I have had better food on a truck stop, why not just take one of the meals off the bill. Will not be back to this over it priced place which is too bad because it’s a nice clean place just has horrible food.
I had been to the Corkscrew Saloon several times and had wonderful meals, so when my husband asked where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner I picked the Corkscrew. We invited another couple to join us. All started out ok – until the food started to show up. My husband had asked for the soup, which we were told was Clam Chowder, it ended up being Potato Soup. Our waitress was no where to be found to tell her, so he just ate it. He also said he didn’t want the vegetable, yet a substitute was not offered. The main courses were brought out piecemeal – the couple with us got their meal, one of which was supposed to have a baked potato and did not. Then my husbands meal came out, by then it was discovered we did not receive any of the butter or sour cream for the baked potatoes. Then finally my meal came out. I had ordered the Salmon, on the rare side, it came out well done and dried. I was going to just eat it but my husband waved the waitress down and she offered to bring me a new one. Now that was just a complete mistake, the new Salmon looked like it had been slapped around the wall a few times (see picture) and was completely raw except for a small sear on each side. The waitress asked if I wanted her to take it back to cook more, and I refused. I was not going to be the person to send my meal back twice – especially looking at what they did to it the first time. I just asked for a box so I could take it home and maybe cook it more myself. I was then horrified when she took my plate away to box it herself. I normally don’t like to think the worst in people, but I just wasn’t comfortable about that. Then the bill came and I would have expected at least a discount, most reputable restaurants would have not charged for the meal, but nothing. A manager didn’t come over to talk to us, i had to pay $22 for a meal that I am not going to eat. My lovely birthday dinner was ruined. I will not be returning to this restaurant and I would not recommend it to anyone. I understand mistakes happen and sometimes the meal isn’t cooked or ordered properly, but I do expect a restaurant to take care of the customer if they want them to return. I even attempted to contact the restaurant manager/owner privately to express my displeasure, and did not receive a response. To me this says they do not care about their customers.
