We were totally unimpressed. Expensive, food was nothing special, service was terrible despite the fact that there were only a handful of people in the place. I’m guessing I know why. We won’t be back.
Champaign Brunch. I was taken there for mothers day and it was fantastic…the service was a bit slow..but the food was very good.
Used to work at the main street …. They did and probably still do charge way over what the food actually costs .. The lobster bisque did not contain lobster meat but it did contain crawfish . The filets were not actually filet cuts . They were filet of sirloin , which are a worse cut of meat. The walleye was not in fact walleye but tilapia, a cheap version of walleye. I felt as if I deceived customers when I served them because they weren’t getting what they actually paid for . !!!!!
Overpriced and Bad. Grumpy group that forgets how they make their living. Duh…you are a SERVICE company in a SERVICE industry. Cant believe this place is still here after all these years of everyone around town agreeing with how overpriced and poor the management is. Oh well…we’ll keep going to other places until something changes.
Bad Food, Bad Management. Worst eating experience. I would give zero stars if possible. We went there for the first time for Sunday lunch on March 18th. I ordered their nachos for my meal after reading it’s description of chips, olives, tomatoes, cheese, chili. My other three friends ordered burgers and of course my simple order came late after the others had already eaten about half of their meals. How is it that Nachos takes longer to prepare when it is not cooked but heated up to melt the cheese.Anyway, I got my order and started eating. It was not long before I realized that there was no chili on it. At first I thought maybe it was on the bottom under the chips like some sort of dip. Remember, this is the only meat on the dish and probably the most expensive ingredient. So I dug down and no chili. I asked the waitress and instead of making another order correctly, went to ask her manager what to do. By now the others were done eating. She came back and said that since I started eating it the only thing they would do is heat up chili and bring me a bowl of it.I am a firm believer that you should get what you pay for. I don’t care paying as long as I know they are making what they say they will on the menu. The waitress said maybe the manager will take a couple of bucks off the bill. It was a $10 appetizer and it was about right. No, the manager would not budge. By now it was a matter of principle. The cook had not prepared it correctly, who by my fee was paid for their labor. I paid for all of the ingredients, even what was missing. It was not the waitresses fault, a high school student. (still tipped her 20%) it’s just I expected more from this cafe. Now I will never return there nor will I recommend it to anyone and will go out of my was to discourage business there.
Kinda like Mee-Maw’s house inside, but the food was good and inexpensive (soup and half sandwich $4.95).
Don’t waste your money. My wife and I decided to try this place for Valentines day weekend. We went on Feb 13, because Feb 14th was a Monday. We were concerned that without reservations, we might not get a seat, being a busy weekend for restaurants. We got there, and the place was nearly empty. Only two other (unlucky) couples were eating dinner. We ordered two of their 4 course meals, and an appetizer to share. The appetizer we tried was the smoked shrimp raviolis. We only received 3. They cost more than a meal elsewhere. Then, on to the 4 course meal. It was the ‘lobster stuffed grouper’ meal. It was to come with a crab cake appetizer, a lobster bisque, the fish main course, and a tiramasu. Nothing was as promised. The lobster was actually langostino (more like crawfish than anything else). The green beans turned into carrots, and the tiramasu was just whipped cream on a plate. I am pretty sure the grouper was actually cod or some other cheaper alternative, and of course was stuffed with everything but lobster (langostino from the bisque, tiny little salad ‘shrimp’, and mushy breading). The stuffed ‘grouper’ tasted as if it had been frozen and recooked to order. Also, the waitress, though attentive, didn’t seem to know anything about the food.I am not surprised now that there was nobody there! I won’t be returning.
